acdc would be for me one of the more boring bands. every song sounds similar, its just a fully cranked marshall. i can only listen to a few songs at a time. this i find similar with people like steve vai, only 1 or 2 songs. although satriani i can listen to endlesssly. malmsteen -_____- is totally boring, cant even listen to one song. john mayer   on the other hand can quite simply be listened to all day

is there anybody who you find boring

I honestly don't get the hype about The Black Keys.

SRV, Zeppelin, AC/DC, Deep Purple?

I guess I'm old school. I'll listen to these guys over this new stuff.

Zepp plagiarized basically every good song they had
AC/DC only ever wrote three songs
Deep Purple is just bland IMO
SRV is generic derivative blues playing, nothing particularly special and only remembered as he is because he died young.

Except I'm not ignorantly dismissing entire genres, rather, I'm dismissing bland, unoriginal bands. The unoriginal part applies a bit less to Deep Purple, I do acknowledge their significance in the creation of heavy metal by way of influence, but ultimately their music just was not particularly strong. The sounded more or less like any other band you could think of from that decade.

I'm not going to bother posting any opinions on music I find boring, I'm not taking the bait. Instead, let me point out that everyone is going to have entirely different opinions since music is almost completely subjective. There's no need to get worked up about it, or to take what someone thinks of your favorite bands personally. Arguing for or against something as subjective as music is really pointless.

I cant really think of any bands that are boring, some are more bleek and dull than others, but still, I listen to the 'boring' bands when I'm bored out of my mind. Just like I listen to manicly insane bands when I feel like I'm gonna burst with energy, an I listen to raw bands when I feel exposed.

If a band writes only one song and produces 10 albums it doesn't bother me. Take the Ramones debut album for example, all of those songs sound basically the same and that album still remains my number 1 greatest album of all time. Coming 2nd is The Vasco Era's 'Oh we do like to be beside the seaside', heck, they all sound the same too. Really, it's all about relation and cnnection with the band for me.

I get that this is your opinion and I respect that. AC/DC only writing 3 songs, you can say that about any band that has been playing in the same style for years/decades, for example Iron Maiden, Motörhead even ZZ Top, but I love all of these bands, Yes okay it sounds like they are beating a dead horse but they are always finding new creative ways to beat that horse.
As for SRV, you can say the pretty much the same for Kurt Cobain, the heroin was taking it's toll on him when it came to writing songs and if he wouldn't have killed him self when he did we would probably remember him the same way we remember lot of hair metal bands, as a "has been".
But I agree with you when it comes to The Strokes, but I take it further, I really dislike (hate is such a negative word) all the "The" bands that came after riding on The Strokes coat sounding exactly like them.

But other than that. I think that this topic is likely to start flame wars so I am going to excuse myself now and find something more positive :) But before I do, I am going to drop a pre-emptive cutness bomb on this thread

Agreed. This post is negative. I already feel like I want to jump in the mosh pit but I will refrain.
