so what do you think ? even though im a jazz bass player, i still think the Precision bass might be a bit more popular

I think the P is more common. I don't as many J basses in rock and roll, or in any other genres where electric bass is used. If an actual figure could be presented, I'm sure this feller would like it.

i think you are right..i think P basses are more easily accessible for the every day musician. I also think as a new musician. the P bass is pretty much a no brainer. one volume, one tone. and the thing sound great! where as the jazz bass is defiantly a bit more complex. with the blending of both pick ups.

For me the most popular solid body electric bass guitar made by FMIC is the P-bass because I have 3 of them. I did own a Telecaster bass that I purchased in the winter of 1968. A monster bass guitar but I sold it in 1991.
The Jazz bass guitar is IMHO the finest solid body electric bass guitar made by any guitar maker, including Alembic's, and hopefully one of these days I will have one.

I have an american standard jazz bass. and it is hands down the best bass ive ever played/owned in my life! I recommend this bass to any serious bassist! it will change your life! It changed mine. its like a drug. i want more more more! im saving up to get another am, std, jb. i still have a long way to go..but it will be well worth the wait and the money!

how come you sold your tele bass? i kind of want to pick one of those up! those are cool!

all true statements! I love the way slap bass sounds on the P bass. I still have to get a P bass, though, its not really my style..i still want one just to have one.
