Me, I don't think I sound like anybody else. I'm not that good, but I have never tried to copy somebody's style. I can replicate Billy Corgan on some of his songs, and I've been told that I sound like Adam Jones (which is a huge compliment.) If I played in a certain style, I would be considered a Corgan ripoff. But I only play in that style when playing Pumpkins songs. My other influences blended together pretty well to give myself a unique sound. And I've never taken proper guitar lessons. I learned using tab books, guitar magazines, and playing along with a buddy who wasn't as good as me when he went off to juvi (We had been playing a few months at this point. When he got out, his playing had increased many times while mine was stagnant. I learned a lot off of him, but he never gave me lessons. And I'm sure he learned from me as well. I do need to develop some "signature" sounds (the middle eastern stuff is one example that has come through quite well and unexpectedly.) And I need to work on my bends and playing fast. I just need to purge my playing from the cheap, generic bluesy elements that come out of it. I've come a long way, but when I get lazy I do the 2-4 2-4 2-4 riff which just sounds awful. But to get back to the subject, I might suck, but I uniquely suck.

lol well said, i think everyone has their own personal twist on their tone and the way they play, ull always have ur own style unless u incredibly good at playing covers from a certain band, i do the occational cover but mostly i play origional stuff, but when playing covers i make sure i dont play note for note, i always give it my own personal flavour...

ive been compared to the bassist of the used. also been compared to the bassist of senses fail, and funeral for a friend. though, for the most part, i think my style doesnt really sound a lot like them i think its similar, though..I really think everyone has their own unique style.

Good or bad I sound like me  . By that I mean I can hear Clapton, Santana, Gibbons, and SRV influences in my playing. Now if I could just play as well as those guys Hmmmm  .

great post. to me, i sound like an extremely drunk angus nugent. but not nearly that good. someday i will post my playing and let others answer that question. folks say i play really good. honestly, i hate playing solos. everything is a hip shot. i'm really working on phrasing but i'll always come back to the hip shot. whenever i get the nod, it just is what it is. never planned. i know a few sig licks in tunes but very few. i just let it come out. it sucks 95% of the time. that other 5% of the time is kinda cool.

Sort of a mixture of Johnny Greenwood from Radiohead and Simon Neil from Biffy Clyro, except worse.
When I play the bass I aim for somewhere between Jared Followill and Phil Lesh. It normally comes out better than my guitar playing, but still not as good as either of these two.

How about what? I sound like chalk on a blackboard. Now if you really want to stick with "Who", I sound like an exuberant yodeler flush to your ear during your worst hangover.

Seriously, the best I could describe my stylings is akin to a culmination of British Blues/Rock players from the late 60s/early 70s.

I sort of sound like James Hetfield when I play Metal. All other genre's I do not think I sound like anyone else but me.

I like to think I sound like a cross between Jack White, City and Colour, and Red Hot Chili Peppers ... if they lost all they're skill.

I have several great guitarists who influenced my style John Lennon and George Harrison were my first influences but then there was Chris Britton of the Troggs and Pete Townshend but my overall biggest influence was Jimi Hendrix and it's his playing that's most noticeable in my style although the influences of Pete's wild, hard strumming are very much evident to this day as I still bash the strings as opposed to simply strumming them most of the time.

With the recovery of my mitts still quite a way off,it's going to be quite a while before I can do that again.

Most of my originals (well, I think...) are raw garage blues, with the occasional sludge thrown in and a good majority of them are just downright depressing (to be blunt, atleast...). I have a real lot of influences, Eddie Vedder's ryhthm technique, Jack White's simple raw riffs, Fugazi for their odd and off sounding chord structure's, what Robert Johnson can do just with a acoustic and his voice....

The list goes on.
