well i have a large store in my city, very personal service, one of the staff even thought me something while i was trying a strat.
its a sweet place and like i said very large.

now on the flip side, i also have a small one, not so personal. they cared about me buying something, and the only "brand name" guitar i saw was one squier, once

I feel self conscious playing in music shops so my preference are those with sound proof rooms (guitarguitar)

Otherwise, I've found that the staff of the less chain-store-y type guitar shops to be much better. They tend to know more about the guitars, and are nicer to the customers.

I like the personal attention I receive from my small store (Hess Music).

Great products (Fender of course), service & competitive prices.

For me doesn't matter how big the music store, but i like a music store that the dealers have a good relation with their customers

I will second that.

How ever i am biased to Craig's Music Here in Weatherford!!!

It really doesn't matter to me as long as they have what I need/am looking for and the price is right. The big ones are good for trying things out because of the large selection that they have most of the time. I do order alot online such as pedals. Order, try it out for a day or so, keep it if I like it or ship it back. I also check out craiglist and e-bay alot.

Not sure why places like Guitar Center that are big and know it seem to have a habit of treating individual guitarists different because they are big so they can get away with second class treatment so I tend to seek out smaller better ones with one on one customer service.not to say they are all that way..probably not.that one bad experience tuned me off on them but when able will give them another chance to be fair.

I like to go look at the larger stores, then go to my local Mom and Pop store to buy. My family has been dealing with my local Mom and Pop store for over 40 years.

No doubt I agree.this is without a doubt the wrong place to post/ask this question but I give up trying to get an avatar even though I have a Fender to use for one that many do not see anymore.
Thanks in advance if the powers that be can fix rhat.

You are correct sir! My local shop is small and very well stocked. The owner and staff know me and what I'm interested in. 8)

I would shop the smaller stores if it wasn't so uncomfortable. Most places I have walked into that are small have employees that have their noses in the air. It makes me not want to try anything out there.

The huge stores are very impersonal and it's like pulling teetht o find someone to help you out.

The Guitar Center stores I have bene to wherever I have lived are okay if you get to know some of the more tenured sales people that will go on to work their indefinitely.

There are very few places that have the balance of great selection/prices and friendly/knowledgable staff.

It's quality, not quantity. But still, a giant store rules!
