sorry, it just strikes me as odd that someone who is writing an essay (why else would you write an essay unless you are taking a class?) wouldn't contact the company directly via mail, phone or email to get this info. There is nobody in the whole wide Internet who can answer this question.

All-time sales numbers over the last 7 decades??

It's a typical troll question. Makes no sense, stirs up, and you see we're already discussing the issue.

Really? I don't see a reason to take it at anything other than face value. Just a kid looking for some help with a school assignment, no?

Maybe. Registered 2 days ago, never came back.

Cheers

Heehee - yes, but then that is rather typical of kids who turn up here wanting help with their homework. It's happened several times before: people give generously of their knowledge and energy and then the little tyke never even bothers to say thank you. :lol:

To be fair to the OP, he could search the net till the cows come home and not find Fender's sales figures. And if he rang them and asked they wouldn't tell him. It's reasonable enough that his search should lead him to a forum full of people who might be able to help - and it's also reasonable that he should come back, say thank you, and tell us how he did with his essay. But he probably won't...

Cheers - C

But Ceri...How do we know he/she is a little tyke ( so cute... :roll: ) or for that matter a Troll or just a person asking for an answer.. :?:

FORUM...Just the word and it's definition implies that the OP engages and replies as soon as answers to the question have been submitted.
To not reply is considered rude and cannot be taken otherwise in the context of a silent blank response from the OP.... :?
I have asked questions here and on other Forums where I needed my flame suit, but that is part and parcel of a Forum.

If you join just to get an answer and not participate, then that is rude, impolite and basically Trollish behavior, mild but nevertheless Trollish.
I'm sure some of the members who responded took time to search for an answer, so in a context of discussion all parties must participate....

Throughout the Lounge ( this section ) there are many threads started where you have to ask yourself wether the OP's ever bother to search and then possibly (highly unlikely ) reflect on their questions instead of expecting others to just " Clickety Click " and provide them with all the answers of the universe.
My question to those is " How in the Hell do you function thru school, let alone real life.. :?: :oops: "

I don't know about sales, but based on topic count and replies i would say the Stratocaster is more popular than telecaster.

Strat = 18143 topics 216972 posts

Tele = 4444 topics 36140 posts

but this is just a guess :wink:

Or this could show that strats are more reliable, or maybe they're just more interesting.

I don't think one can rely on topic contents based on popularity as a barometer as to wether Stratocaster sales outnumber Telecaster sales.
Guesswork would suggest that is the correct answer but not everyone on this Forum plays a Fender Stratocaster or Telecaster and I would further venture that many on this Forum do not own either, in the same manner that many Forumites on the Audizine Forum do not own or drive an Audi but are nevertheless enthusiast of the brand and product and are in the discussion.

So it is guess work and I surmise that tyke-OP-troll has succeeded in fueling a discussion with only a preliminary input

GOTCHA....... :lol: :lol:
