Same here I hate batteries I wish I could do something about my Clapton strat. I don't waste time testing them I just replace the batt if I thinks it time.

I have heard that some people's batteries last a year or more in that guitar as long as you remember to unplug it when not in use. The circuit is not that big a drain.

Unlike wannabe rock stars and so called professionals, I make my entire livelihood in the electrical industry. Are you even in the union? You got a pension? How about annueties? I've even worked in the music industry before. I'm also a retired video tech. Right now I'm preparing to take a new state certification the doggone state is making a bunch of us take.
One thing I've noticed in every industry I've been in is that the ones that don't know squat are always the ones to jump in and, show off the two cents worth that, many times they don't even fully understand. I'm ending it here because I'm California cool and, there is no fruition for me to argue with wannabes. Peace out and I wish you well! Keep checking nine volts underload. LOL!!!!!

BSEE 1976. Systems engineering contractor for NSA, CIA, NRO, and NGA. I have held clearances that I can't acknowledge and worked for agencies that officially don't exist. I have worked under cover at covert sites. I have designed and tested systems that you couldn't even conceive of in your little world. I don't need a union. I have advanced in my business area through skill and hard work on my own. To this day, my wife still doesn't know what I do for a living and she never will. I modify and build guitars and amps as a hobby. When I give advice, it is based on fact, not opinion.

Bye Bye. Welcome to my ignore list.

Why not pull it out and put it on your tongue.

This is, of course, the only way to test a 9V battery. All other methods are just silly.

On a semi-serious note, it's amazing how over the years I've become able to guess the level of charge in a 9V battery remarkably accurately with my tongue. Must just be an acquired musician skill.

WOW!! Didn't want to start a fight. For me, it's just easier to plug the jack into the bass, turn on the meter and read it. For others, it's easier to pull out the screw driver, unscrew the lid, pull out the battery, test it, put it back in, find the screws, and screw the lid back in. One guy I know plays corporate and casino gigs like I do and replaces the 9V every couple of weeks. I didn't start playing bass for money until 1964 (pre-Beatles) and my first active bass was 2 years ago. Thanks for the help bluesky636. P.S. found extra leads so I can put alligator clips on one set and the 1/4" jack on the other.

You're welcome man. There is nothing wrong with what you want to do. Whatever works best for you is right.
