So as some of you may or may not know, I don't actually own a Fender. Played many but never actually owned one. So this summer now that I actually work steady hours (Caddying is not a steady pay) I am working towards my first. Thought I would put the idea on here to stay motivated.

So the idea is half of my pay check goes towards school stuff. No if's and's or but's. Half of it to school. Even if that is $100 or $2. Half to school.

Now, the other half is up to my disposal. So we will see what the options are but here are the two main one's.

I know I can get a used MIM strat for around $250 which I think is a good number but I will have to play a bunch to find the right one. (Oh darn  )

However, if it looks like I will be doing pretty well, I might hang on a little longer and get a new MIM standard.

Things like color aren't that important to me so as long as its a Strat, Rosewood and in a good price range, it could very well be my next gee-tar.

Will post pictures when it happens.

Not a bad idea. That will depend on what it looks like I will be making this summer. Still unsure but will know soon.

Other suggestions on how to go about doing this and options to consider are always welcome. Many of you have experience far beyond my years.

Nope, you got it...play as many as you can in your price range and find one that talks to you...that is pretty much the best way to do it! It is refreshing to hear a youngster who is willing to work hard and have the fortitude to stick it out to get what you want! Good on ya!

+1

I commend your decision to forego the temptation of credit. Make that a lifelong habit and the rewards will be compounded (no pun intended).

It's sad to say it, but as a youngster myself, it's refreshing to hear of someone else from my generation even having a job.

Jobs are scarce right now but I also know people who are just lazy. Laying by the pool all summer.
