At the risk of sounding like a salesman; let's try to narrow the focus.

How much do you want to spend?

Do you want new, used, or either?

Will you be recording?

Do you need an effects loop?

What about effects; Built in or pedals?

Egnater Tweaker - 15 watts and all sorts of tonal options. Comes in both head and combo versions.

Welcome to the Forum Matt.
I currently use my rig at low volume at home but have always thought it would be cool to have an amp big enough to sound good and small enough to fit next to a big arm chair or sofa virtually unnoticeable, conveniently nearby. I've been wondering what this sounds like: Image

Matt, what kind of sound are you looking for?

Given what minimal information we have to work with (London/UK based), perhaps an AC15 would fit the bill? That's a nice clean or dirty amp that will take pedals well. You can find a used chinese made one for relatively cheap. Pre-2006 UK-made versions are nice but naturally fetch a premium. A safe investment if you'd like to recover your money in the future.

If money is of no issue, the 18W Marshall 1974X would make one heck of an El-84 based amp.

Just some food for thought

Also, Blackstar has the high-gain territory covered at about any volume level you can imagine.

Howdy, Matt! Welcome to the Forum...

Is your Avatar pic of you? ...and if so, does that Strat have a Fiesta Red paint job?

I've got a a Fiesta Red '62 reissue...killer looks, beautiful sound (considering who is playing it  ).

Let us know what you want out of an amp, your budget and what kind of music you're playing.

...and it's mandatory to post pics of your gear...

I am new to electric...Bought the guitar without knowing full spec...I bought it as a 57 re-issue. Found out that none made in Mexico...derr, and they are 1985ish anyhow? Mine is a fiesta red 50's Classic reissue 2009/10. Yes the avatar is me.
As for the amp, at the mo I use a fender 'front man' 38W and a Peavey 26W job. Louder would be good. Although price at the mo is a factor. I love that 50's classic strat sound but also want a modern harder sound. Maybe its the way I fiddle with the amp..I cant get that heavy sound with a good treble. plus the drive select sounds like its bust a gut.
As to budget, £50-£100 at present..My missus holds the reins now!!!! bless her.
Bit of a techno phobe..regarding posting pix of, her, my 'mistress'...How do I post photos other than avatar pic???

Hi Matt,
Welcome to the forum.
I would also recommend the Egnater Tweaker. Great sounding amps and very versatile. Egnater is also coming out with an amp called the Detroit 5. Looks very interesting.

I'm not just a Fender guy, I'm an equipment guy. I use all kinds of guitars and amps to get done what I need to do. Right now, I'm flying the Egnater flag. Great amps, well built, with lots of tonal variety. Big bang for the bucks.

Your "all rounder" need is why I suggested the Egnater Tweaker, it's capable of doing just about everything pretty darned well. If you can test drive one do it.

with that budget you don't even want to glance at DR.z amps
the tweaker is a good choice, but its still a bit out of your budget.

You may want to wait till you get a little more cash stashed away. It's way better than settling on a one trick pony. Like I said, the Tweaker gets my vote. The Jet City amps are a really good value too.
