The trouble with Chrome is that it updates with out asking you if you want the update. In the last update google became the homepage. There is probably a thing on the topbar that says options under tools (I am not at home and don't remember) and you should be able to change your homepage there.

He said it took him to the games page I guess. If he just clicks the big grey "<" he should be fine

You'd regret uninstalling it.

Tsk tsk Ludnuts. There is only one reason why people use IE. To download another browser on a new PC.

Edit: forgot to put lol emoticon after punline :D

I was a diehard IE, running on XP fan till my laptop crashed (thanks avast), but when my tech guy reloaded it, he put on windows 7 instead of XP,saying eventually, microsoft would stop support for XP

Windows 7 is very slightly slower(not that noticeable really, maybe a half second on some sites) but one of the big advantages is in windows 7 , you can download different browsers and when you find one you like, get rid of IE (you couldn't in XP, but the courts ruled microsoft had to make it removable in W7, to give people a choice)
I had a problem with IE from the offset, it kept freezing, so I tried chrome, which I liked, apart from the toolbar, then firefox

After playing about for a few days, I made firefox "chromified", which gives it the best bits of both browsers, then deleted IE, and eventually deleted chrome

The thing I like about firefox, is how customiseable it is, where in IE, you'd have to scroll through pages of stuff to change things back to how they were before google "improved "them by the latest boffins idea of how a browser should be, instead of mine, with firefox, they say "OK here is an add on to sort that for you " , you can even drag buttons to where you want on your toolbar (I have home and favourites on the left)

The latest mess you about thing google did , was , on Igoogle, gave you a new homepage layout whether you wanted it or not, so I have now altered it back to how I want it

If you want total control, try this
Download Firefox, "chromify "it, then install these add ons
Adblock plus
Element hiding helper for adblock plus (you can then highlight anything you don't want on any page, including your homepage and get rid of it)
Stylish (you can add a script to centralise your search box after google moves it to the left with the "new look")
Timeline remove.com (gets rid of the stupid timeline in facebook)
and finally
New tab homepage (so when I click on a new tab, my homepage comes up, I don't need tabs all over, I have favourites)

If you want, you can also download "default user agent", which puts a button on your toolbar, click it and it goes blue, refresh the page and you can select IE6-IE7-IE8 etc (you can download and add to the list and use any browser , chrome, opera safari, etc)
It resets on restart, or you can click back+refresh anytime

The trouble with IE (It may not be in Windows 7) is that it is connected to the Admin privleges in windows wich makes hacking into your computer easier, basicly a open door policy.

And yes Chrome is the fastest browser, Firefox is the most fun for the greative person who wants to personlise his browser (but in my case became very slow on my computer), actually same goes for Opera, Safari gives you the same feel as IE but is faster.

If IE wasn't the default browser at my work I would never use it. IMHO.

I'm sorry, but you need a new tech guy. If you had an XP computer, I'd have told you that you needed to actually upgrade your computer. An XP computer isn't really designed to handle 7, and it's probably slow because everything is at a higher capacity from the get go. If I were you, I'd buy a new computer. Avoid HP, they've had a few duds in the past years. Try to go with Sony - VIAO, Dell - Inspiron, or even as far is Acer - Aspire. I've had nothing but great experiences with these brands and models of computers.

+1

I'm running Firefox and have no problems at all. I can't stand IE and will not use it if I don't have to. Believe it or not, I'm still running an old XP machine (Dell 3000 Desktop) that I've done my own tech work on (rebuilt it, added RAM, etc...) and it is is still going strong. It can't run 7 because of the BIOS and most importantly the CPU processor, but this ol' PC just just keeps on keepin' on.

My wife's laptop is a new Dell Inspiron "something" and has Windows 7 and all sorts of bells & whistles. It's awesome and smokes my old PC, and she runs either IE9 (which I remind her not to) or she runs Chrome (which I installed and set it up for her). Chrome has some funky settings, but once you figure them out, you're good to go.

I'm sorry, but why would I need a new tech guy? This fella has been working in computers for over 20 years
My laptop originally came with vista installed, but I hated that and got him to put XP on it, then when avast wrecked it, he put windows 7 on (which most laptops in the UK now come with), updated all the drivers and it works fine, check here

You realize the regular address bar in Chrome IS a google search, right? You have literally no reason to ever go to google.com...

That "weird crap" is the Chrome homepage/app page.

IE is balls.

I tried Google Chrome once and it just sucked too hard for me to be bothered with it. Still use Firefox.

Yeah I could just bookmark google.com and click on it from there.

I hate it when things get changed around on me like that. -_-

:P

I might just uninstall it and use internet explore but i got so many nice bookmarks
Blah, Blah, Blah! this sucks lol

Download Hitman Pro (free for 30 days) and run it. You'll be surprised how
it finds things that others don't find.
