I just finished competing in the first round of Guitar Center's Battle of the Blues (used to be King of the Blues) and won the prelim! :) I'll be playing next in the store finals. Anyone else try it this year?

Congradulations TG. What song did you play? I've got my sights set on next year to give it a try just for the experience. But my local store is a tough one. I went last week to watch and there wasn't a bad player in the bunch. I forgot to go tonight.

I walked into GC in Lake Forest California to buy strings and, they were doing the contest also. I walked out with Ernie Ball 10s and a Music Man baseball cap. I had to get it! I use to work at the original plant in Anaheim. Congradulations on your win! I hope you go all the way! I bet it is more competitive were you are at. I mean these guys here well but, I was not all that knocked out by the contest I saw tonight! Everybody has fun and that is what matters.

Well, it got laughs that's for sure... I played Funky Woman. I know, go ahead laugh, get it out of your system. Lol The irony is that several years ago I played to Little Girl Shuffle. I guess I'm more mature now... Or not... :p

It never hurts to try. But my prelim last year was tougher than the district finals I competed at four years ago.

With respect to my situation, this is not true... I have nothing to gain by entering this competition... I can only lose...

If I don't make it past the first round, it would be a huge blow to my confidence...

But to each his/her own... If these competitions make you happy, that is great... its good ti find things in this world that bring happiness.. :D

That will be the last time I compete in a guitar competition! Too much anxiety!

Just Sunday I performed at an open jam, no anxiety at all, no problem. I have no problem performing in front of 75 to 100 drunk bikers who could kick my azz if I didn't play right, but you put 3 judges, and 15 spectators, 10' away from me and I freeze.

Good luck to ya TGS!
