Yeah, I enjoyed his work. 70 not a bad age to go.
I hope he lived well. Rest in Peace

Very sad to hear this. :(

Wow, Steve had talked to me quite a lot about Duck Dunn's playing and how his bass lines helped to make songs the hits they were.

Sounds like a good way to go, in your sleep, on tour, playing music you love, at 70 yrs old.

A great loss to the music community, I'm sure I'm not the only one to spend time learning bass lines from listening to him.

As a bass player I owe the man. He was among the top bassist that taught me, and others I'm sure, how to play bass. R.I.P.

Great great bass player at least he had a good innings. His legacy will live on and on.

Another tremendous loss to the music world. Guys like Duck Dunn were true innovators; he developed a style and sound that wasn't there before, but now is a standard of the music lexicon. He will be missed.

I had the great good fortune to see Duck Dunn and his signature pipe with what would probably be considered his second most famous band, The Blue Brothers. New Years Eve 1978 at Winterland in San Francisco. Here is a video from that show.

Truly one of the best.
That he passed away right after playing a show with Steve Cropper, doing what he loved, is both beautiful and sad.

See my post in the PRECISION forum, which is where I went first since Duck was a P-Bass guy. It is so unfair that so many totally crappy bassists are still walking around while the Duck had to go. Guess Duck and Otis will cook something up pronto.

Apparently Paul Schaffer got the news in time to pack "THE LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN" afternoon taping yesterday exclusively with bumper/break songs featuring Duck's basslines played by Will Lee. Shaffer voiced a tribute to Duck during the show and Lee owned up to idolizing Duck. Shaffer worked with Duck on the Blues Brothers projects on and off for about 22 years. Paul Shaffer was the original arranger and keyboardist for the Blues Brothers project and appeared in the cast of "BLUES BROTHERS 2000."
