Anyone used these? Any thoughts on the viability of them? I am thinking of upgrading my Austin Strat. Thanks.

Welcome to the Forum CJ. I recently looked at a DiMarzio loaded pick-guard for my P-bass, $169. Bought the DiMarzio humbucker by itself for $69 and the electronic components from WD music for $30. Put the pick-guard together and bought another humbucker (for another P-bass) with the cash I had left. The DiMarzio loaded Stratocaster pick-guards look great but I would want to choose the pick-ups going into it, or, possibly look at the Seymour Duncan loaded Stratocaster pick-guards. SBLS

Update. SBLS, your prompting to seek an option where I had the ability to choose the pickups I wanted lead me to http://www.aampselectricguitarstore.com/pre-wired_pickguards/dimarzio_pickguard_sss.html. I got as close to a Jerry set up as I could with the S/S/H configuration and it should be here by the end of next week. I chose a "True Velvet" for the neck, an "SDS-1" for the middle, and a "Super 2 Humbucker" in the bridge position. I'll report on performance when I get it in and going.

Hi Joey, I just got a loaded pickguard on e-bay from Sigler music, with DiMarzio Area 58' 67' 61 pickups and so far at home they sound great. I can't wait to try them in a live setting.

Hey Babalooga, That's awesome. The thing that appealed to me about the DiMarzio set-up was the solderless connectivity option. Unfortunately, the unit I order needs to be soldered, so it looks like I'll have to spend a few more shekels to get it hooked up after it arrives. Give us an update after you play it live.

Hi joey, all I had to do was solder the wires to the output jack and screw the pickguard to the body.

I know. That was a real attractive option looking at the Dimarzio factory pre-wired setups. When I called Aamp's to ask if the set up was solderless, and they said no, it was almost a deal breaker for me. But I calmed down and found a friend who is handy with a soldering iron and should be no problem.

They're here, they're here!!! Now to get it soldered. New PuPs and new strings. Gonna be a helluva Memorial Day Weekend. Might even learn Jimi's Star Spangled Banner as a tribute to Memorial Day.

Hi Joey, I got to try my new setup last night and I like what I hear. I'm going to need to change some settings, but like what I hear.

I have to say, playing with new pickups is like looking in the mirror after shaving a beard you've had for 10 years. I'm still searching for my tone. I think I need to lift the Pups a little. When I play the middle and bridge together the high E & B strings fade when I play with the TouchWah setting on my G-Dec. Suffice it to say, still looking for my tone.

CJ, glad that you've got the pick-guard installed and you're happy with it. I have a feeling that you will find the tone that you want and maybe some new ones that you will like as well.
