Aparentley, FG1/IMSRV thinks he'd be good for the part (check out gibson forum if you dont believe me).

Seriously though, I agree with Gorgon. There are to many Hendrix documentarys, some off them I'm not even sure if the info is correct :? Plus, what his favourite meal was and why he chose that weird hairdoo is a tad irrelevant to his art. That doesn't need to be documented

A few years ago talk was in a RS article, Lenny Kravitz would play Hendrix. I think I would have liked to see that. But Andre looks more like Jimi.

I'm sure Jimi's half sister, Jamie?, is driving for a movie to boost sales of Jimi's records. She's more or less exhausted the recordings in various flavors.

Andre 3000's Jimi Hendrix biopic is not authorized by estate...

This from a news feed and at this link http://movies.msn.com/movies/article.aspx?news=727336&ocid=rr-mov-news.

I knew that the biopic wasn't authorized by 'Experience Hendrix', but couldn't say anything until the press release.

Just wondering...does it have to be authorized by the estate to be made?

My guess is no but I'm not a lawyer... though I did sleep in Holiday Inn last week...

No, but they won't be able to use any music that Jimi wrote or recorded.

That's way that other HBO indie movie 'Hendrix' http://tinyurl.com/7lfn2w2 didn't have Purple Haze, Foxy Lady, etc, etc as part of the soundtrack. Since Jimi didn't compose 'Hey Joe' or 'Like A Rolling Stone', these songs were in that terrible flick.

All copies of that film should be piled up in one location, doused with gasoline and burned. Then the ashes should have liquid nitrogen poured over them and smashed with a shovel while they're still brittle. Then maybe burned again...just to be safe.
To make it a perfect day, they could shoot Yngwie with a small rocket propelled grenade.

Why would anyone have a distaste for Edge? :? one of the originals in the guitar world. See he actually went the creative route and developed a style of his own instead of becoming a 3rd rate Hendrix or Clapton clone and god knows we have more than enough of those... There are so many imitators in the guitar world, they don't want to, or are unable to create their own sound so they ape someone else's. Edge forged his own sound and is instantly recognisable. He is no virtuoso but i have infinitely more respect for him as an artist than all the Jimi, Eric, or SRV clones. He had the vision to do something different which is what art is all about, individuality.

I agree with you there. I used to vaguely insult Edge's "simple" playing, until I tried to play some of his songs. Even with the control-room-sized effects board, that dude has some mad timing skills to be able to pull off those rhythms and melodies.

I also like the fact that his originality rarely veers off into weirdness. Try as I might, I can't stomach too much avant gard music in one setting...some of it is people trying so hard to be "different" that they forget to try to sound "good" at the same time...Edge has balanced that line of originality, uniqueness and listenability.

Playing along to a delay and keeping perfect time, so it doesn't end up in a trainwreck, is no easy thing  Let it escape for a fraction and you're gone. Plus he does the stereo delay thing which must be pretty complex to work out and synch to.

I agree he doesn't just dissolve into avante garde and really plays for the song. There was someone on a YT video who was slagging off his abilities and said without the effects he'd be nothing  Art comes in many shapes and forms and guitar playing is art.
