He was 54 years old. He was returning from a tour of Europe and collapsed at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. He was rushed to South Fulton Medical Center where he could not be revived. The preliminary diagnosis for cause of death was a heart attack.

Shocking, I have one of his cd, I love his music and playing. RIP Mr Burks.

Another fantastic blues player gone. RIP Mr. Burks.

I saw him down in Tampa once, his playing kind of reminded me of a pissed off Freddie King and his stature was similar too! Well I never met him, but he looked huge on stage!
