I'll need to confer with Andy about this. We'll have to really work hard on our Jedi mind tricks to make you believe he is me.
Or, we could just go for the lint.

I'll get back to you on that though. He may be allergic...

Congrats Andy.

A not so well known fact about Andy's socks, they are the only pair of socks that have been knighted by the queen, for "for beeing so f#"%ing epic" (the queen's own words)

Howdy!

HA! Thanks for all the kind and hilarious posts folks! Quality!

I'd like to think only a small number of those 2000 posts where used to "Sock" an equally small number of threads, but I couldn't say all the rest where used to facilitate various users desires to mod the crap out of their Strats! I can only hope the remaining posts where spent engaging all you sound, like minded, folk in friendly banter! :D

Tomorrow I'll have to post something suitably Big & Hairy to mark the occasion.

Well, today is tomorrow... and the weather was grim so I didn't do any work on sanding down my "Disaster-caster" body. But I have learnt much from the Thread Masters, and know that when you don't have any thing guitar related to share,....

...You bake stuff.. :|

So this is how the Big Hairy folk attempt to bake a cake... Fender Forum style! 8)

You'll need the following ingredients:

3 Large Eggs
Self raising flour
Butter
Caster sugar
Icing sugar
Cream
Jam/Fruit preserve of your choice
2 table spoons of milk
A pinch of salt

And you'll also need the following items:

Large bow
Whisk
Sieve
Cake tin
Wooden spoon
Nunchaku
Hair band (a big one)

Method..ish..

Get three large eggs and weigh them...

Image

...Now weigh the butter, flour and the caster sugar the same as the eggs. In this case 212 grams is the magic mumber.

Put the butter and the caster sugar a large bowl and mix until its creamed and fluffy. Crack open the eggs and give um' a good beating (so have-at-it with the Nunhucks until they're proper battered). Then slowly stir in the eggs a bit at time. Once its all mixed, sieve the flour and add to the mix a third at a time.

Image

Once that's all mixed in nicely, slap the mixture into a greased up cake tin...

Image Image

..And bung in the oven for 40-45min on Gas mark 4 (180C) until golden brown. To check its done, lightly push down on the top and it should spring back. If it all good, pop it out of the cake tin and leave to cool before slicing it in half.

Image

Smother one half in your fruit preserve of choice, the other in whipped double cream, then throw them together...like so...

Image

Now dust your cake with icing sugar. I'm going to attempt to justify this post on a guitar forum through some shameless decorative branding (as the Thread Masters have done before me)

Image

Yep. Totally justified... and Nope, I couldn't fit any more icing sugar on there!

Image

Served with tea and shared with my sous chef / kitchen giggle fairy, Mrs Bighair (who finds my style baking hilariously frustrating!).

Go on, you good people in Fenderland, help yourself to slice of Big Hairy Fender Cake...

Image

Thanks again & Enjoy!

Andy

Congratulations. Big and Hairy. It's too much. BTW, you know we desire alcohol with building or cooking posts. Maybe even more socks. Cats... :D

HA! :D

Can't drink on a school night any more (that and I'm soooo full of cake right now) and Randel the Cat is being a tad anti-social since I gave him his flea treatment. We have the same argument every time its due. He says he doesn't have fleas and I remind him that's because I give him the flea treatments and so on...

BTW: Nutter, I hope you went for the Texan trouser fluff over the date with a beagle...

Thanks again folks. You guys Rock!

Andy

Wow Andy, you've pimped the Victoria Sponge to new heights! But tell me please: Weigh the eggs and then mix other ingredients to amount to the same weight as the eggs, but in which proportion? And, if possible, in one of your saweeeeeet wiring diagrams, please! I think you should publish a cookery book in that style, by the way. "Gram by gram - Diagram Bakery by Andybighair". Smash hit!

Also, I think fluff is what we need, isn't it? Perhaps he could give us enough to make a small ball to give Randel to play with... 8)

Tasty thread, guys! Lovin' it!

Good plan buddy!

I say we get our Arma-dollas worth of Texas trouser gold and win back Randel the Cats affection. Cunning.. 8)

Victoria Sponge!!! HA! I wish!

I also wish I had the cognitive capacity to have transposed that recipe in to diagram form, as I'm much more comfortable explaining things through a sketch than through the written word (I totally kick-ass at Pictionary BTW!). Regarding the measurements, you'll want 212g of butter, 212g of flour etc.

My top tip would be to not use weapons of martial doom to beat your mixture. That cake was a bit on the dense side. I must have beat all the air out with the Nunchucks... lesson learnt.

Any-hoo... I think I'll leave the forums baking tutorials to you trained professionals and go back to making proper bonkers wiring diagrams!

Cheers!

Andy

Pooch, Mutt, Hamster, Super furry Armadillo maybe?...

I'm pretty sure its not a cat... so I'll we'll be after your finest Texan trouser fluff please. If your pockets are as productive as my belly button when it come to fluff, I reckon they'll probably be enough to make Randel a house mate as well as a ball to play with!

Enjoy!

Normally I try to track down an appropriate picture to post on these sorts of threads. But it is just impossible to top that - award yourself unlimited Big Hairy Points, Andy.

Too cool.

Congrats on topping 2K - and thank you for all the amazing wiring diagrams, by the way. A lot more work in those than folks might realise, or I'm a Dutchman. (I'm not.)

Drink up - C

HA!

That's the best use of belly fluff I've heard yet!

I'd award you 50 points... but since Ceri has just injected an unlimited amount of points into the scheme, its crippled the Big Hairy Point Economy, and they are now worthless. :|

Andy, there's just no way your Nunchuck skillz could have battered that batter that bad. I bet you made it as fluffy and light as a snowflake!

At any rate, it takes the Fender Baking Squad to new heights. Are we competing in the Olympics, by the way, chaps? eh?

Reminding me of the Olympics: On the news the other day they reported there are going to be missile launch pads installed on some people's (domestic) houses for fear of hijacked aeroplanes over London... Could we install a muffin launcher or something? It was done successfully during the Cold War by a German who was fed up with the low-altitude training flights of the Starfighter jets outside Munich... the guy built a Knoedel-catapult! Hilarious! :D

And for anyone who doesn't know what a Knödel is... http://muenchner-knoedelei.de/index.php ... kurioses_1 Hahahaha!

Ok chaps. Back on topic now please!!
