Has anyone purchased the Cobain Mustang and registered for the free record? I recently registered for the free record but I didnt get any email response from fender stating that they received my registration.

Just wondering if anyone else has registered for the freebie and if you received an email stating that your registration has been confirmed.

Well, that doesnt come close to answering my question.

And as a Nirvana fan myself, its time for people to stop perpetuating this false idea that Kurt didnt want to be famous or commercialized. It all boils down to one very basic and simple concept to understand. Nirvana was signed with the semi-underground/small label SubPop. But then for some strange reason, Nirvana signed with Geffen, one of the biggest record companies in the world. If Kurt wasnt looking for fame and mainstream attention, he would've stayed with SubPop and would've never jumped at the chance to sign with Geffen. He knew everything that would come with signing with Geffen. He knew the potential fame and mainstream success that came along with signing with a major record label....and thats what he wanted.

Heroin addicts are miserable people. They hate everything! So when a hugely successful musician becomes a heroin addict and then tells everyone how much he hates fame and hates his music being commercialized......its something that I refuse to buy in to. He wasnt hating everything until the heroin started to take over his life.

So no matter what he said after he received the fame and the money.....he got what he initially wanted! And I got what I wanted...this guitar is really nice.

Now, if someone could answer my original question, I'd appreciate it.

Of course, the depressed, bipolar, possibly schizophrenic man with a debilitating drug addiction, chronic stomach pains, a failing marriage, and massive emotional and physical stress from sudden and unexpected fame and extensive touring could not have possibly been suicidal.

My opinion.
People get greedy over money that's why he went to greffen (to make more money)

Kurt is always a sensitive subject anyways
I hope your question gets answered. later -Jake

No, if all he wanted was more money for the same level of success he had already achieved, going to a major label would have been the worst possible move. That's essentially damning yourself to bankruptcy. He went there for fame, and when he got it he didn't know how to handle the pressure.

To all the celebrities who hate the paparazzi and/or dealing with their fame:

Stop performing or making records or movies or whatever it is they do.
Leave Hollywood or whatever hot spot(s) you frequent.
Quit going clubbing.
Get a real job or live off the proceeds of the "horrible" lifestyle you had to suffer through.
...And shut up.

Back to the original subject:

I have not played the new Cobain Mustang, but I used to own an original 1964 Mustang about twenty years ago. It was a fun guitar and it looked cool--natural patina that comes with truly being road-worn--but I never really bonded with it, so I sold it to a guy who loved it and cherished it, and we were both happy.

What was the album that was offered? Was it some kind of "rarities" disc, or some repackaged collection of Nirvana songs?

I think it's just a remaster of Nevermind on 180 gram vinyl.

Its just a 10" EP with 5 or 6 songs on it. They made it a very special red color  and limited it to 1700 copies. Its really nothing special, but since its free, why not get it....right?

Its just lame that after registering my guitar, fender doesnt send an email letting you know that they received your registration/ record request. For all I know, the place I bought the guitar from might have already used the serial # and claimed the free record. But I wont know until 10 weeks from now when the record either shows up, or it doesnt.
