Well, the $12 tuners got here. I wasn't expecting much, but now that I've seen them I'm thinking about ordering the more expensive kluson replacement tuners instead. The cheap ones are really classical guitar tuners, and while I think they would work there's just something about them which doesn't look right on the lap steel. And I'd have to drill holes which might be visible if I ever did switch to klusons. I'm leaning towards buying the klusons, but then my bargain lap steel will turn into a break even for what I could sell it for lap steel.

We finally worked on it today! Despite my reservations, I tried the cheapo tuners and the were a direct fit, no drilling needed! They also don't look nearly as bad as I thought they would. I picked a cream colored jack plate for it, and my guitar tech installed the jack and a new pot today. No pics yet since we were crazy busy at the time and I was on the clock, but I should have some up for you guys by this Saturday. :D

Well, again sorry it's taken so long for an update. But I finally got it up and running this afternoon! :D It sounds awesome, and it plays great. I've been really busy lately, and I work again tomorrow, but I'll post a more detailed assessment of it with some pics as soon as I get the chance.
