Howdy there , I posted in the tele forum, but there's more traffic here, so I'd give ya'll a shot to help. I am seeking some advice about control options for my tele. Here's the scoop so far:
BILL LAWERENCE SINGLE RAIL IN THE BRIDGE
SD HUMBUCKER IN THE NECK
3-WAY BLADE SWITCH
here's where I'm seeking avice. The neck sound too muddy, and the bridge way too crisp. I play with both pups at the same time and have been fairly happy, but I'm a tweaker. the original electronics, or at least when I bought it, had a .047uf cap and 500K pots. So, what I've done now is replaced the cap with a .022uf, a 1 MEG pot for vol and a 500K pot for the tone. It's sounding ok in the bedroom, but haven't tried on the big boy amp yet. I'm looking to toss in a PIO cap, replace the blade woth a toggle, and add a switch to give her a megabucker set up (placing the pups in series, out of phase) and maybe adding independent tone controls. I'm looking for some value corrections or opinons here, i.e., what size cap(s) would you suggest, size pots, and what not. I'm seeking input before I order. Thanks a bunch!
