Sam Ash http://tinyurl.com/72nlbu8 has the G-DEC 3 Fifteen for $99 and the G-DEC 3 Thirty for $149, with free shipping. I got a G-DEC 3 Fifteen for my 8yrs grandson, he's still loving playing his guitar.

That's a great deal Tony. I paid $249 for my 30 on sale and it's a great practice amp. Make use of the Fuse software. It gives another dimension to the whole sound tweaking thing, it makes it a bit more interesting being able to see the effects and settings.

It really is! I have my grandson learning 'cowboy' chords, since his hands are still too small for barre chords, and I have him practicing the pentatonic scales in all keys. So, with the G-DEC, he'll have backing tracks to practice along as well.

I have a Mustang I and use Fuse with it to create amp presets and update firmware.

The G-DEC just arrived, of course I had to open the boxes and take it for a test drive. I have played a G-DEC many times in the music store, so I really didn't have to open the bag to read the manual on the DVD, or for FUSE, & Ableton LIVE LE.

But, I was surprised by the number of backing tracks already in the amp. I have a couple of 4GB SD cards that I'll load tracks on for him to play along with. I'm really excited by him having the amp, and by the amp itself.

Does the G-DEC sound just like the Mustang or different?

They both sound about the same, but IMO, the Mustang is more of a 'guitar' amp.

The reason for this is because I can easily adjust the tones controls on the Mustang, where the G-Dec has only one physical tone knob, you can adjust the tone by pressing the 'amp' scroll thru the menu and than adjust using the wheel.

But, if I didn't have the Mustang, I would have brought this G-Dec for myself. Besides having backing tracks, the additional features are really cool. I loaded a SD card and recorded using the Phase (loop) option, that was fun and easy. I saved the phase recording for my grandson to practice with later.

I'm really excited for him, and I feel that the G-Dec will enhance his playing via more practice.

I don't see the G-DEC 3 Thirty.
I would prefer to get one of those.

Musician's Friend has them (including the thirties):
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/search/search.jsp?fA=a&fI=2002&fV=site1HAG&fT=2002%3Asite1H&question=Fender+G-DEC&icid=200755

That's a killer deal!
They are obviously clearing these out. I wonder if something new is in the pipeline.

I took the G-Dec over to my son's home and gave it to my grandson. As you can see he was really excited!
