Any of the Blacktop guitars are good for Metal. If you are into Metal, might I suggest the Blacktop HH Stratocaster with the Floyd Rose tremolo. If you want the chrome pickup covers you can buy them aftermarket.

Yes, they would work fine for metal outings...especially if the rest of your rig lends itself to a metal sound.

It would be extremely easy to swap the pickups to something even more "metal-ly", too, so that is an option you might take into consideration, too.

John 5 and Jim Root both have 'bucker equipped signature Teles. (John 5 is very talented, but I must go on record to say Root should not have a signature Tele until Tab Benoit has a signature Tele and Doyle Bramhall II has a signature Strat...JMHO).

As I mentioned, the whole Blacktop series would be fine for a Metal sound. I had no issues achieving that sound with the Blacktop Tele I tried out.

i have a blacktop but it is the baritone tele. i find the bridge pickup rather thin for my taste. but it is a baritone so it gets rather nasty which is what i wanted. experimentation. when the funds roll in i plan on putting a seymor duncan invader in the bridge.

do you need special strings for baritone guitars or do they just have a longer scale so they stay in tune better when tuned low like would erine ball not even slinkys fit on it there 12-56

i got a chance to play the blacktop today at my local music store i loved it
it got a small neck but not to small
the bridge pick up is hot enough to play any kinda of metal
and the neck pickup is awemazing for leads
with the maple fingerboard the frets feel so smooth under your fingers
cause of the body contoure it is the most comfortable guitar i ever played
the only thing is it is hard to switch between the pickups while playing cause of where the position switch is located
IMHO the guitar is worth more then 500 by far
