Hey guys!!! Sorry I haven't been around here for a while. I was wondering if any of you could give me a little info. Right now I live just outside of Boston, I have a potential job offer just east of Tampa. Can anyone give me some pros and cons to the move??? I know I'll get the straight scoop here!!

Thank you!!

If you like really hot weather you'll be okay, lots of thunderstorms, more than ususal power outages and lots of old people who will try to run you over. these are opinions formed ny talking to friends in Florida.

My inlaws had a place in Florida for many years and we used to escape the WI winters down there every January or so. What was said about the frequent power outages and old people's lousy driving is very accurate. The humidity in summer is pretty stifling, you will be soaked in sweat after even the smallest activity.

And from one of my coworkers that went down there, remember we are in telecom industry, lots of "things." By things I mean more spiders, snakes, and other critters, some of which are poisonous, that get really big. Since it never freezes they just keep growing, I imagine if you're in the Boston area there may be a lot more variety in the wildlife than you are used to. The inlaws were in a gated golf course community, I thought the people were all pretty snobby but the rent was at a good price. And even inside the gates they were always pulling gators out of the water hazards. Kind of makes the word "hazard" more meaningful doesn't it.

Good luck on whatever you decide to do.

All the above and the fishing is good too.
I had many encounters with the "wildlife" but you get used to it.
Even better... the beer is icey cold..
The only thing I never understood... Why do half the fellas wear socks with sandals???
Enjoy the move fella. :)

One GREAT thing about being east of Tampa is the Green Iguana Lounge Monday night blues jams! Great fun, great bar food, and some fine blues players...our very own CedarBlues plays there pretty regular....can't wait until I am in the area again and get a chance to join em on stage!

A few other +'s...The weather is warm, but you get used to it. It's cheaper to live there, you don't have to wash your car as often, and houses there if you get a newer one are very well built. I moved from the Panhandle of Florida a few years back, and totally intend to move back there in a little over 8 years (once my youngest grads from college). I am from Michigan and I didn't miss the snow one bit!!!

Of course, this is all IMHO!

You'll fit right in, Florida is about 90% Yankees now.
