I'm a little bummed.

I built this thing a couple of months ago just for something to do, and have a total of ~$150 USD in it. The reason I'm bummed is, I actually like it! The sound is fine and in some ways, I like it better than my Strat. The sound is somewhat ok, not as good as my Texas Specials on my Deluxe Roadhouse, but not bad.

But what kills is me is, I find it easier to play. I am so much more comfortable with the fake Tele than I am with my new Strat. The neck is a little wider and I find it easier not to mute strings, but what I notice the most, is how easy it is to pick and rest my right hand. I don't know and am wondering, maybe I'm not a Strat guy!

And yea I know, go and play many guitars, blah blah blah, but I'm wondering if any of yall found the Strat sort of "Non Ergonomic" for your size, style, etc and preferred a Tele?

Based on Ergo's only, not sound.

"Different strokes, for different folks. And so on and so on and scoobie doobie doobie." Sylvester "Sly" Stewart

I think that quote applies here. You see this sort of thing also in the P versus J posts.

Maybe the OP is more of a Tele player than a Strat player. Some like both and others like neither opting instead for something else entirely.

I've been thinking about the saga HT-10 kit. Just ain't pulled the trigger yet.

I've also thought about butchering a cheap strat body to see if I could get a PRS CE or EG neck to fit it. As much as I like Fenders, that big flange of a neck joint drives me nuts. I much prefer the way PRS CE and EG necks bolt 'in' as opposed to bolt 'on'.

I'm the opposite. I find a Strat with a trem unit harder because you're always fighting the trem on bends.

As far as the Saga goes, enjoy it!! And congrats. It would be really easy to upgrade the pups if you felt the need. What it says on the headstock means nothing.

Why is it easier and not just different?

Would you be happy if both were exactly the same?
I can promise you now that the vast majority of tonal difference in electric guitars comes from how we interact with them. They feel different and so we play differently on them.

Nothing wrong with different. I'm no stranger to it. I have a dozen guitars and no two are are the same make or model. Some guitars are more difficult to play than others. Scale length, string gauge, fret size, neck radius, setup and other factors effect how easily an instrument plays or as you described "different". Most players take the easy way out and go with what's easiest to play. That's why IMO some players say this brand sucks over that brand or why some players have so many of one brand or style of guitar. Nothing wrong with it at all. But as you said Niki, it's the interaction that will make you play differently. If you ever feel stale or hit a wall, pick up a completely different style or make guitar.

I'm guilty of it too mate. I'm really considering putting some medium jumbo frets on that Mosrite copy I got.

It's killing my hands holding barre chords for a hour and a half on a skinny neck on a near fretless flat fingerboard.

Damn my scenester ways.

I hear ya Niki. My Supro is pretty close to the LP "Fretless Wonder". It's still a joy to play. It's incredible sounding for slide work.

i think i understand what Mr. Nik is saying. i have a tele and 2 strats. they get almost equal time which is not much. i play the dogsnot out of my old re-built gibson explorer. i love everything about it. it doesn't look good but neither do i. it gets the job done and i don't "baby" it whatsoever.
having said this, i plan on playing my other guitars more.
