Has anyone checked this guy out? I've been reading a lot of articles in Guitarist magazine about him over the last couple of years but this week I actually took time out to get his albums and give him a good listen. He plays a well worn 62 Strat and his tone is just out of this world. His cover of Neil Young's Cinnamon Girl is fantastic.

What a coincidence, this very topic was posted on another forum today.....(I won't tell, lol). As I said there I've been singing hhis praises for a couple of years now and he is definitely the best guitarist that ever came out of Toronto-even being a threat to Kim Mitchell and my beloved Jeff Healy. He may be quite possibly Canada's top guitarist at the moment.I would hardly call him a SRV clone because he has his own style and obviously the same influences. His style of playing is an amalgam of the styles of Albert King,Jeff Healy,Buddy Guy and most certainly Jimi Hendrix. He never set out to emulate anyone and it's strictly coincidental that his style has evolved to resemble that of SRV and that's due to common influences so it was obvious that both their styles would be similar.

Anyway getting to his playing, the guy is absolutely brilliant. He just blazes at the fretboard and is just brutal with his attack on the strings when he gets on a roll. His guitar really shows the battle scars of agressive strumming and overall abusive handling. He is incredible to witness, just plain mind boggling the incredible tone he can coax from a guitar he's an absolute wizard. Not one word of this is hyperbole-the man is really that good he's another one of these unbelievably gifted virtuosos who come along only every couple of generations.I could watch and listen to him for days on end.

So which one do you not actually listen to, SRV or Sayce, because they sound nothing alike.

And while I was looking for the pic above I found this rather tasty shot of his 1963 Strat named "Mother" and his pedal board...

Looks like a Klon also? Nice pedalboard. I like his playing, energy and tone. I'd like to check him out live sometime.
