My last band 'The Primetime Blues Band' was together for 17yrs, the last 15ys there was myself, 'Dapper' Dan Axt (harp), Ed 'The Man' White' (bass) and Richard 'The Doctor of Rhythm' Kass (drums).

Ed developed colon cancer about 6yrs ago and was cured, we thought, 3yrs ago he was having shortness of breath and went to the doctor, he was found to have lung cancer. Apparently, some of the colon cancer cells had metastasized to his lungs, than he had a seizure and the doctors found a tumor on his brain stem. The cancer cells had also metastasized to his brain.

He had chemo, and was in another experimental treatment program, which prolonged his life, but the quality IMO. The reason he took the treatments was that he wife has MS and is wheelchair bound. Last night he was taken to the hospital because the seizures have increased and he had passed out...it's just a matter of time now for him.

I just got word that Dan Axt was in car accident, his pelvis was fractured to the point were he was having a hip replacement, he's still in surgery. We're heading to Columbus in a few minutes to see them both.

Sorry to hear that Tony, you know as I do,that the older we get the more our health starts to become an issue...we've all been blessed with the gift of music,I just wish everybody, myself included, could stay well enough to play for a lot longer, the thought of not being able to play music scares me.

I start my next series of testing tomorrow as I end my 3rd

That's just a terrible situation for all of you to be in Tony,I know that after all these years you become more like family than bandmates. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your bandmates and Ed's wife also.May God Bless and keep watch over you all.

i've lost a few bandmates over the last several years myself. i'd like to think they are waiting (patiently i hope) to jam with me again sometime down the road.

i'll say a prayer and keep a good thought for your friends.

Thanks for all the kind words.

I talked to Ed this morning, and the seizures have stopped, he's very weak. Hospice is in touch with his wife now.

Dan's surgery went well, he has a very long rehab ahead of him and will have to use a cane the rest of his life.

My friend & bass player passed away at 1:15am this morning, he is no longer in pain.

Services for Ed will be at The Grace Baptist Church http://www.gbcdeloh.com/ in Delaware OH this Saturday 2 June 2012 with the viewing and welcome of friends from 9am - 10am, and Ed's 'coming home celebration' starting at 10am. I will speak about his life.

sorry for your loss. even after 25 years, i still grieve for the bandmates i have lost. thinking of the great times we had together help kill the pain a little, but i wish we could do it one more time. i'm sure you will do a great job remembering your friend at the service. my best to all of his family and friends
