Hey gang, this is a general guitar tech question that I hope some of you more knowledgable folks can help me with. Last night I was "noodling" around with my Acoustic/Electric and noticed that on the high E string at the 13th fret, the note was F# instead of F. The 14th fret played the F# as normal. I checked every other fret on the guitar and this is the only fret that has this issue. An issue which wasn't there before, at least not that I noticed. Any thoughts on what it might be? I'm hoping it will be something I can do myself instead of taking it to my tech. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
By the way I have also emailed the manufacturer and am waiting for his reply as well.

My first guess would be that that fret is a little higher so when you press it down you're putting more pressure on it and it goes sharp.

It does sound either like some fret level issues, or perhaps intonation? Or how old or new are the strings?

My strings definately need changing, the manufacturer (Zagar) seems to think there may be a humidity issue. He has given me some things to do if that is indeed the problem. He also mentioned adjusting the truss rod if humidifying doesn't work. It's just weird that it's only on the one string and one fret. If the fret itself was an issue, why would it not affect the other strings?

Because that particular piece of fret wire might have a defect only in one particular spot, affecting 1 string. (Just a guess).
