Like most have posted I also like the traditional country best. To me it has more of a cleaner, honest sound.
However, there are some new artist that have put out some good songs. Not all of today's country is watered down southern rock.

Just to name a few;
Craig Morgan - This Ole Boy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imMGsbwrl38
Chris Young - You and Gettin' You Home
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0EtpEdZWZY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWP7ZtVLPd4&feature=relmfu
Billy Currington - Good Directions and I Got A Fellin'
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DY9D01WPIN0
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFHBzVZMXk8
Eli Young Band - Crazy Girl
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3HwFtdVTfM

Now these guys don't really sound like George Strait or Alan Jackson or Merele Haggard or Buck Owens or Waylon Jennings or Willie Nelson, etc.....
....but then those guys didn't really sound like the ones that preceded them either.

I have to say that it paid the bills for a few years when the mention of the words blues band got you an immediate not interested response from bar managers. But once in the door a good dose of roots music whether it be blues, country, traditional,folk always seemed to insure a rebooking in the future so yeh I'm into "Country" :)
