1) Why The Minor Pentatonic Scale Is Often The First Scale That People Learn?
2) Why minor first and not major?
3) Why starting with Am and not other keys? Are most of the songs in this key?
4) Is this scale really that common and useful? I mean, how often do you use this scale?
5) Are most of the songs out there imporivisable with Pentatonic Scale?
6) Would just knowing the Minor & Major Pentatonic Scale be enough for most of the time?

My one and only Guitar Teacher felt it necessary to teach me the Am pentatonic scale before I'd even learnt the most important chords or rhythm techniques. This even came before barre chords. It took a long time before I able to put that scale to everyday use and only when I was a bass player in a band. I finished with him after 8 weeks of lessons and went back to the start and learnt the 20 most used open chords, barre chords, triads, 12 bar blues, harmonics etc... though Justin Sandercoe as well as a lot of other video tutorials. I've taken an interest primarily in rhythm playing so my path with move away from yours put there are so many excellent videos on YouTube. There's a guy who shows you have to play licks, riffs and small solos around the everyday chords you would use, finding out how to properly perform hammer ons and pull offs which opened a new world to me. All this stuff came from just typing in "Rhythm techniques" into the search in YouTube. You will come across great people with their own channels who love nothing better than sharing their knowledge with the on-line community.

I watched a video of Joe Bonamassa doing his own version of the 12 bar blues which he learned from Danny Gatton. I then went on to YouTube where I found that Danny Gatton had recorded a video lesson years ago that had been split out into 9 parts.

There are also some great lessons that the guys at Gibson are now putting up on their Website for free.

Depending on where you want your Guitar playing to go, YouTube is your friend. :

1) Because it's the most used scale in rock, blues, country and it's used in a lot of jazz too.

2) They are actually the same scale but starting from different points. The Am scale is also the C Major pentatonic, Am being the relative minor of C Major. Also most blues songs sound better in a minor setting but there are no rules.

3) Because the key of Am/C Major has no sharps or flats in it and is easier to learn and use. A lot of songs are in this key but a lot aren't. It's a good starting place however.

4) Yes it's that useful and i use it like every time i pick up a guitar as do 99.999% of all rock and blues greats.

5) Rock and blues and country yes. For jazz you have to improvise over a lot of different chords and need to incorporate passing tones.

6) For most things rock and blues related then yes, bearing in mind you can add in a lot of dissonant notes/passing tones as you see fit.

1) It's super simple. 5 notes.
2)It adds one extra note and is more commonly found than major
3) It's a moveable pattern, once you learn it in Am just shift it up or down the neck to whatever key you need.
4) You'll use it all the effing time. Especially in blues.
5) Pretty much any song can be improvised in pentatonic.
6) Yes, but if you want to progress as a guitarist you should learn as many scales as you can.
