When you decide to make that move, you'll have a lot of fun if you get with right people....keep up the good work though,I've always thought that practice plays a very large part in a good musician's playing ability.

Absolutely! I was mostly self-taught and developed a lot of bad technique and didn't really learn the language of music well enough to function in creative environment, both of which prevented me from realizing my true potential. So, I tore up that foundation and am building a real solid foundation to work upon.

I want that "magic" at my fingers!

Happy Monday!

Also, lots of short practice sessions, like sprints, to build strength, with a few marathon sessions thrown in for stamina, or lots of marathon sessions if you can handle it.

I have to try and keep my strength up for playing gigs on weekends,I have arthritis in my hands and it's a struggle at times, even when the next day rolls around my hands and wrists are sore but I try to practice lightly to limber them up.
We have a two night, back to back weekend coming up in two weeks,it's going to be hard...when I was young there was nothing to it,now I have to pace myself.

I'VE BEEN PLAYING FOR ALMOST 40 YEARS AND TO BE HONEST I DONT THINK I COULD PLAY A SINGLE THING THAT ANYONE ELSE HAS WRITTEN BECAUSE I DONT CARE WHAT THEY HAVE DONE. I PLAY WHAT I WANT TO PLAY WHEN I WANT TO AND DONT CARE WHAT ANYONE ELSE THINKS. NOT THAT I'M ANY GOOD BUT THATS NOT WHY I PLAY. I PLAY FOR ME AND MY SANITY AND NOTHING ELSE MATTERS! PLUS WHEN I CRANK UP THE MARSHALL THE WIFE GETS REALLY PISSED OFF. WHAT MORE DO YOU NEED?

I have not tried one of these, but they claim to be the easiest guitar in the world to play. They are called Zager EZ-Play Guitars. If it did work, you could practice on an EZ-Play and gig with what ever you wanted. I think I got an email or something from them.

Another thing I do is lightweight resistance exercises and proper stretching, not body building per se. Just good, flexible whole body muscle tone seems to help.

When I worked out hard and puffed up a bit, I didn't have the energy to focus on guitar and developed a mind-set that lead me away from playing.

Okay Sceaming Armadillo i will try to tone down but at my age the hearing is starting to go. What i was trying to point out was that if you play what you feel not trying to learn what every one else is doing you will spend more time playing, get better at it and have more fun doing it. Just try to have fun and by the way not a chance i am turning the Marshall down.

When I read through the post in question, the thought process stopped at wife. Honor your wife. Otherwise, now that I know what you meant, now I get the all caps thing -- lol!

So,you must have a whole catalog of original songs, right?
or do you just sit at the house and play around loudly,... not playing any other song that anybody has written?
