It does sound fantastic,....guys,if you like the vintage Fender sound and are seriously thinking about one major tone machine, you really ought to check the Vibrolux Reverb or a well made clone,it can cover all of your basses, unless you're into that high gain preamp distortion thing.

I imagine that if Fender decided to do a reissue of the BF Vibrolux Reverb it would maybe even cost more than an original vintage BF model would, according to the largely out of reach prices of other reissues that are getting up close to boutique amp prices or even higher.

You're right guitslinger...and that's why Arjay got the response,or lack of response he did, when he approached some Fender reps.
A point to point wired tube amp replica of the Vibrolux Reverb with the Fender nameplate would most likely sell in the $3,500-5,000 range...judging from just a few examples we have from their line,a '57 Tweed Deluxe Reissue lists for around $2,000 last time I checked.
A real BFVR is still a gem to own and shelling out the greenbacks to buy one if you can afford it is worthwhile.

I had an original but some horsehole stole it. I was really disappointed when they came out with the Custom Vibrolux. It's nothing like the real deal. Not even close.

Spot on, bro. The CVR isn't in the same league as the 60s-70s versions, not even close. A really clean '65 VR just sold on ebay for $2955. Tell me there's no demand for these old guys?? Fender Marketing - please, please listen. Why ignore this market? What are you guys thinking??

Wow! I should sell mine. It's 64 or 65 with the gold label Jensens. I had a tech go through it a few years back but I rarely even turn it on anymore.

Well, I'm in the cue with Marsh. I'm looking forward to getting it and putting it through it's paces. It may be early to say but I'll guess the VR clone will hold it's value reasonably well too. I went for the Mercury Magnetics tranny upgrade and one Weber 10" coupled with one of the stock Jensen P10Q's. It should be sweet! :D

cheers -
k

Thanks. I'm sure hoping Mike's VR clone will be all I'm hoping for. I should have it by mid-June.

thx,

Kenster,those speakers will sound great.
I have a Weber 10F150 and a Weber 10A125 in mine....the ceramic and alnico speaker configuration accents each other very well...you're going to love the amp,and the MercMag choice was a good one too...post pics when it comes, when you can tear yourself away from playing it! :D

I took some more pix of mine today. Been meaning to anyway. Its a 65, about 8 years ago I had my friend Roy Goode, noted amp Boston area amp guru, go through it and at the time he replaced the 2 prong cord with a modern ground 3 prong, in addition to other things.
