I'm just watching a drama about the trapped gold miners in Beaconsfield Tasmania on the 6th anniversary of the disaster. One didn't survive, two did, trapped 1km underground for a few weeks. One of the guys requested Foo Fighters music.
Dave heard about this and flew the miners to the US I think to meet the band.

I recently won five F.F. CDs in an ebay auction, so it's time for me to catch up on their music.

Goodonya ...Mark.

I think the band that fights the foo isn't bad, It's amazing how seamless it was for Dave Grohl to put down the sticks and pick up a pick. Unfortunately every time I hear them it's hard for me not to think of Nirvana and the whole Grunge/Alt. movement during the early '90's, which in my opinion killed Heavy Metal (and solos). They did come to our town back in Sept. and I was seriously thinking about going though.

Yeah mate, Brant requested Foo Fighters and Todd asked for the local newspaper to check the job ads
Typical Aussies, walked out, didn't want to be carried.

I really enjoy the Foo Fighters a lot. Their newest album "Wasting Light" is awesome. I listen to it front to back all the time. It is great and I recommend it if one does not have it.

:D

No doubt; considering he is an exceptional drummer.

They've gotten progressively worse over the years IMO, though Wasting light was a minor step up. It just doesn't have any outstanding qualities to me, everything about it is very generic.

alot of their songs IMO are really mediocre, but i do like their first album and wasting light.

they only did 2 songs i'll listen to, not a fan at all. all my life and the pretender are huge. and whenever i see him playing live his voice is always so far removed from what it is recorded, and not in a good way. the stuff they did around the time of monkey wrench learning to fly, i cannot stick it. i dont know if its over exposure from tv and local covers bands, but all their most famous songs really grate my cheese.
