Last week, I was doing an MS walk, and after the walk, there was an awesome blues band that set up. The lead guitar player struck a conversation after he noticed me intensely watching his fingers. He said he's been playing for 39 years, and I believe it. He was damn good. Anyways, he showed me a few things, and one of them was a better way of controlling things, especially since I had mentioned I was all rhythm. I also picked up some Tortex .50s and playing has felt better than ever.

I was listening to a few tracks from the 50s, 70s, and 80s and put my own spin on it.

Hope you guys don't dislike it :D

If I had to use plastic picks, then I guess Tortex are not too bad. They're easier to grip than celluloid, although I prefer a heavier gauge than .50.

I figured out how to do this one rolling sound thing. I'm not sure if I'm describing it correctly, but that's the only way I really can.

The distortion is making my ears bleed, but the tune itself and the picking in particular is the best I have heard you upload yet. \m/ A little palm muting in certian spots would go a long way.

Haha, thanks. My playing is much more soft spoken in person. Anyways, I toned down evenmore for this, with tone at 3 and volume at 6. I've been working with palm muting (\m/ l0l) lately anyways, so I'll try to incorporate it whenever I can. It's hard to get the transitioning right, and that's the only thing that seems to be messing me up now.

Yeah from what I can hear through my garbage computer speakers, your recording levels may be a bit high.
Nice fuzz though and a good lot of control going on there. Very nice and clear.

As for your playing I really like the vocal quality of your rhythm guitar. Excellent, really geared up to enhance a vocal line.
I can certainly hear how relaxed you are in your playing and that is the most important thing. Comfort and relaxation. It'll make you play better than anything else.

Thanks dude. I've been working on it for a while and feel a bit better about it now. My timing has gotten a lot better in the past month or so. :D

Hey Buxom,

I'm looking for something heavy-ish to demo the distortion effect on my new reverb pedal. I know.....distortion in a reverb predal?!?!??

Anyway, would you mind if I did a cover of your tune from this thread?

Cheers

Sometimes it's the little thing's that are often overlooked eh, fumbled with loads of different picks over the years, personaly I blamed the little blighters for my lack of Guitar God status outwith my own mind & no dislike here :)

Thanks for posting James, cool riff. 8)
If you're using 8s or 9s a 50 pick would probably give you better control I'm guessing.
