I'm always amazed at how much music a trio can produce on stage, and with a minimal amount of gear, and GFR was one of those. Didn't care much for their later stuff, but the early years were nothing but raw talent.
A few other trios that rock the house down:
Fripp, Bruford, & Wetton (King Crimson - Red)
Emerson Lake & Palmer
Cream
Band of Gypsys
Beck, Bogart, & Apice

... and the three men I admire the most:
The Father, Son and Holy Ghost 8)
