Looking for some advice on cheap/free recording gear/software. I downloaded Audacity several times and no matter what I try, I cant get it to recognize my Mustang 1. I also downloaded Anvil Studio 2012, and it say's I need a MIDI card whatever that is.
I'd prefer to record directly from my amp to my PC, but if I have to go through a mic to a stand alone system, that's ok as long as I can download it to the net.

Thanks for your help.

Why don't you use the ableton it came with.It really is not that hard once you get it set up.I know it seems intimidating but it really is not that bad.If you go on abletons website there are some "how to videos" on getting set up and starting it.Watch those as they walk you through exactly how to set up the asio and mustang settings. No reason you shouldn't be able to set up and record in less than 30 minutes.Give it a go and good luck

When you got your mustang amp there is a cd.Everything is on that cd.If you look at the cd it says Fuse...ableton and IK which is amplitube. It is not in fuse persay it is third party software and you will need the serial number on the amp and the other registration numbers on the cd

Thanks scarleg, I found it and finally got it downloaded after an hour or so. That's a really big file and FAR more software than what I need.

Maybe the money will be the problem, but I'm using Nuendo. Very good software for recording.

Not sure if your software has the "asio" or not.
The average soundcard on a PC only allows a signal to flow one direction. Either its coming in and being processed, or it's going out and being listened to. If you're recording and the sound is coming out of the amp but not the computer speakers (or headphones if you have them plugged in) then you need software that allows the card to work both ways at the same time.
If you're having this problem, download "asio4all". it's free and it works well.
