Okay, so in my ag class, we're using this last six weeks to build whatever we want from alot of old wood the school had.,
I decided I'd make a guitar cabinet. It'll hold 5 guitars, three on the back, and one on each side. Each guitar will just hang there. Only problem with this idea,...
I don't know how to make the hangers. What shape should they be.?and what kinda other support do they need?

Thanks!♥

Bend horse shoes to about 2"

heat & bend here ->C<- until this is 2"

Then you can weld that to the heel of another shoe and nail to the rack.

G'day TRW. You just need 5 of these brackets screwed to the inside of the cabinet.

Goodonya ...Mark.

(or make them from wood, maybe dowels with some padding)

Those things just look like a bit of bent wire

Anyway, I'm assuming Tessa's cabinet will have a nice solid back. Those Hercules hooks would only be used when there's nothing solid to screw into.
Half inch wooden dowels could be put directly into the back or you could put a strip of solid wood horizontally for the neck brackets. Rubber or foam tubing could be used to protect the finish. Let us know how it turns out. I'd like to make one myself.
Goodonya ...Mark.

Hey ! Those 2 boys at the back. Stop disrupting the class !!!

Another idea would be to make one of these type of racks. They hold the axes sideways and would be easier to make than a cabinet.

I like that last one with the guitar shaped ends. Maybe you could build a Fender shaped one (headstock 8) )
Now you got me thinkin'

That's a good idea too,
I've got a while 'till I get to the point that I can put them in... I only have 45 minutes a day to work on this project, tops.

Thanks guys!

If I build one of these do I have to buy enough guitars to fill it?

Thats way a cooler idea than anything we ever got to make in Tech. The best I ever did was a CD rack.

I made a coffee machine for my electronics coursework this year. It did not work.

haha, we just have ALOT of old wood and stuff, like years worth, and the school wanted to get rid of it, the out side of my cabinet's gonna be old picket fence, it looks pretty cool,

most people are buildin' boxes or bookshelves, I builta little box I'ma keep strings in, then I comed up with this idear!(:

I'll post pics when I'm done...I gota while to go, 45 minutes a day don't get much done,...
