Title says it all.

They don't have to be great, mainstream, uber-slick...

They can be regional, niche, DYI...

...but they should be good.

Thanks for any good links!

None of these will be of that much use to you but;
There's The NME, which is probably difficult to find and expensive even if you can in California. Its crap anyway so no worries.
http://www.nme.com/

There's Stool Pigeon, which is free but again I don't know about its availability where you live.

Then there's the one I read which is currently "on hiatus"- AU, which stands for Alternative Ulster, which while once again is free, will be damn near impossible for you to get a hold of and probably of no interest anyway because it mainly focuses on Northern Irish music.

I recommend you embrace the internet, there are articles on the websites of all the above magazines which would be of interest, as well as websites like Pitchfork Media and Absolute Punk.

Edit- I just noticed you said online in the title, so ignore everything I said about physical magazines.

Pitchfork is great but their reviews are utter s***. The writers are just the definition of pretentious dicks. That said, great music on the site.

Also, check out Deaf Ambitions. Australian indie blog.

Premier Guitar used to make copies of their mags available but I'm not sure if they still do,it's definitely one of the better guitar mags.Vintage Guitar Magazine makes thier articles available on the net too.
