In my opinion the best tone ever to come out of a strat was this guy's!
He never got the credit he deserved, any fans in the house?

We've had "I Think I Love You Too Much" in regular rotation on our play list for over a decade. Great tune.

Absolutely dug on Jeff,
I met him right before he went on stage at a blues festival many years back.He sat next to me on the lawn with his gal as we listend to Eric Sardinas tear it up on stage. He was a really mellow down to earth guy who happened to play the strat with a style like no one elses.R.I.P. Jeff and thanks for the killer music you left us with.

I loved his cover of While My Guitar Gently Weeps and George Harrison was so impressed by it that he endorsed it by playing along on the track. He played here just before he made it big,a guy from work came in on a Monday morning raving about a blind guy he saw at The Fishing Admiral and how he just left everyone with their jaws dropping. The pity was that this was the first weekend that I hadn't gone there for months and consequently missed out on the chance of meeting him as I certainly would have gone up to talk to a guitarist of his calibre and without a doubt who had the same musical influences.

Jeff's passing away was such a great loss. It is strange that he never generated a plethora of young guitarists to try to emulate him, but maybe that he was too much of a complete gentleman and great guitarist, a jazz trumpet player also. At least, I am sure that he is a continuus source of inspiration for all of us. RIP Jeff.

Absolutely loved his playing style. Never seen him live, in fact, the only time I've seen footage of him was in the movie Roadhouse. But I do have his first release on Cassette! Damn, I feel old! I have all of releases now, on my phone.

I don't know, what type of amps did he use? that's the other half of the equation, not just the Strat....every Strat I own sounds very similar, all 7 of them, the amps are the biggest difference in my "warm fat tone"...or "sparkling crunchy tone". :D

Jeff almost always used his Squier Strats with the Evans pickups and 50W Marshall JCM 800s which I imagine would most likely have been the 2204 or 2205 or there's a slim possibility that they were 1987s but from pix I've noticed they mostly had 2 inputs which would make them most likely 2204s.
