I just got the final mixes back from my three new songs today! :) And they feature the Forum Caster, so you guys finally get to hear what it sounds like. Here's the link!

http://soundcloud.com/rebeccalaird

The first song, "Memphis", is probably the most bluesy. I played nothing but the Forum Caster on it, although in retrospect I kind of wish I had played rhythm with a humbucker equipped guitar to help make the tone a little more different.

The second song, "Houston", is more funky. I got the best guys I know to play bass and drums on it, and both of them are jazz guys so this song turned out really cool. There is also nothing but Forum Caster on this one too.

The last new song, "Meridian", is something way different than anything I've ever written before. It's mostly acoustic, tuned in DADGAD. And there are no Strats on this song, which is really strange for me. I just used a P-90 equipped Les Paul for the electric backing and slide. And I forgot whether I used DADGAD or just dropped my guitar down a whole step for the slide part. I better try to remember before I ever try to attempt it live.

As far as other gear/tech stuff goes, I played through the clean channel of my Fender Deluxe VM with some reverb, a tiny bit of analog delay, a little overdrive and a clean boost. For Meridian I broke out the volume pedal too.

Let me know what you think, and sorry it took so long for me to finally get these audio clips up. Life has been crazy busy lately, but with good, music related kinds of things. So it's cool. :)

Oh man, that's all album quality material! Respect, TGS. 8)

On my ears Memphis has a kinda JJ Cale vibe, which I really like. Doubt that's what you had in mind, but whatever; cool number.

And I seriously like where Meridian goes. That is very nice indeed!

The other tracks are neat, too. Nuttin' but admiration coming from this direction! Carry on.

Cheers - C

The Forum-caster and you sound great Texas! I like all of those guitar instrumentals, your chops just keep getting better. Thanks for posting. I also liked the write up on you, it really brought your passion for blues guitar to the front in the article. 8)

Really enjoyed every note! Lots of chops there girl! Keep them blues alive!

Tonight is my last night of working nights. I'll be able to get my life back now. I'll be getting back with the guys soon, to get some quality playing time in, and hopefully be able to get out to the clubs to check out the local talent. Never know, maybe we'll run into each other.

Thanks for the entertainment!

Edit: Was just looking at the HBS website, and noticed you were playing at the KCF earlier today. Hope everything went good. At least you got to play before the bad weather got here. :D

Thanks everyone, glad you like it. :)

And the write up was done by my Mom who's an English Major. She does a way better job at things like that than I do. She might be a little biased though. lol

JJ Cale has actually been turning up quite a bit on my shuffle lately. Not really what I was thinking of when I was putting it together, but interesting. Sometimes things creep in subconsciously.

Well done Tex. I doubt if anybody has ever progressed as fast as you. It must seem a blur. Just really a great job. Good luck. 8)

That was... AWESOME!!!

Oh my goodness, where to start.

I think the coolest thing about Memphis is your patience to hold a note and let it hang for a while in the right spots. The sustain on your new guitar is just perfect. I'm listening to it right now, and I feel like I'm listening to a real pro. In fact, I'm gonna say that I am. My ears are telling me that.

Houston? Diggin' it.. Wow, more of the same. Your execution is very classy and tasty. You have a lot of personality in the little things. It's not just scales and notes droning on. You're speaking with the guitar. Sliding chords, bending a note and hitting a higher one to finish it off, repeating phrases to capture a moment, letting a few bends hang, quick sharp phrases and snappy quirks. It's all there telling a story. Very impressive.

Meridian is really taking me back. I played DADGAD acoustic exclusively for a good 6-7 year stretch. Although it may not seem as intricate as the others, this is the one that is the most singable in my opinion. I caught myself singing to it. It has a good Jack White/ Zeppelinish feel to it. Very cool vibe and ripe for good lyrics and a good singer to harness.

Keep up the good work. You have the talent to have a very successful career, and I personally believe you will.

The guitar sounds great but I think it's more a function of who's playing it rather than the parts inside.

Love that 3 stepdown turn around in Memphis. Sorry couldn't think of a better way to say it. Houston is my favorite. The jazz funk blues feel is I Tunes material. Well done and a great way to christen the Forumcaster. I'm sure this guitar will see many more studio tracks as long as you're playing it. Thank you. I'm jealous wish I could phrase my leads as well as you are doing yours.
