yeah, i need a mini battery powered amp. im gonna start busking soon and i aint using my normal amp for that.
i'm leaning towards the marshall micro, cause i can afford it and it has a belt buckle.
i'm also looking at the orange micro crush

i'm sure you guys have much more experience with these. which one will be better for busking?

Have a Marshall MS-2. Not the best amp, but it gets the job done.

It's kind of difficult to get a real clean sound from the Marshall MS-2 and MS-4 unless you turn it down really low-which defeats the purpose of it if you want to use it for busking. The Vox AC-30 Amplug or any of their Amplugs that suits you, plus the optional cabinet would probably give you a slightly cleaner sound than the Marshall micro-amps.

Your best bet would be to try the amps as you may well like the slightly dirty tone of the Marshall after all.Lots of luck with your busking.

yes well my 'clean' tone isn't that clean anyway. it doesn't have to be the best quality and tone wise, it just has to be mini and battery powered.
i'll look into the vox ac-30

i was just on amazon and noticed fender do 3 of their own mini amps. whether they sound any different to eachother is another thing, but they definitely looked good.

Roland Micro Cube or any other from the cube series. Good luck!

+1 Or the Pignose Hog 20 or Hog 30. They're pretty much standard around my area. The Roland will give you some effects, the Pignose IMO sound better and are rechargeable.

Pignose or EH Freedom amp tho' you'll be hard pressed to get the Freedom one now as they've been discontinued, but they have some volume and balls for a small amp. They really have an incredible oomph for a little amp. Seemingly they stopped making them because they're finished in a beautiful natural wood, quality wood, and it was too expensive to make them. :(

The Mike Mathews Freedom amp from what I remember ran on both AC or 40 yes, 40 D cell batteries. For some reason I can remember seeing the Ramones using them. They were really loud too. They didn't stick around that long. I'd go with a Pignose. The Hog 20 has two inputs.

I forgot all about the Electro-Harmonix 22 and 44 W amps that aren't much bigger than a package of cigarettes yet pack a real punch. The 22 Calibre is only about $100 and can quite easily drive a 4-12 cabinet, you can check them out here: http://www.ehx.com/ they won't give you a Marshall's crunch but they are well suited for busking or even to use as a backup amp when gigging.

That EH 44 Magnum amps are cool too. They're not battery operated though. It runs on a wall wart. I might get one as a small backup amp.

I'm lucky enough to have one of the best battery powered amps made. It was a birthday present from my parents years ago..

Crate Limo.

These are really cool amps. 50-watts, 2-channels guitar, 1-channel PA, and separate effects levels for each. It has a balanced in for the mic and a tweeter. Believe it or not, you get a nice separation of guitar and vocals. You can plug a cd player in it. It just does everything and sounds about as good as you can get with a battery powered amp. I love this thing.

It's rechargeable. One charge lasts a good 8-hours. I had to replace the battery in mine once. A simple hobbyist battery store has the replacement (don't let the label telling you to send it in for servicing for that deter you. You just unplug and plug and you're done).

I know you're probably looking for something a little smaller. The Pignose and Micro cubes would still be better than the really small Marshall and Fender amps in the tuner section of the guitar store. I would go a little bigger than those.

+1 for Pignose, the Hog 20 or 30.

Just browsed their page out of interest - they have tweed 7-100s now! 8)
