Hey everybody, I have a quick question regarding SWR Amps & Fenders involvement.
About a year ago I was at my local music store purchasing an American Deluxe Jazz 5 & an SWR Amplite (to pair up with my SWR Headlite), While at the store I got into a conversation with the sales rep regarding SWR.....I was curious to the fact that there were no SWR Amps in the Bass Department (there's usually several).....The sales guy said they weren't going to stock them anymore (they were slow sellers) but SWR items would still be available........

Fast forward one year later & I'm at the music store today inquiring about getting an SWR Golight 4x10 or 2x10 or possibly a SWR Goliath 4x10 or 2x10 to add to my rig & found out as the sales guy was looking for stock that that the majority of the SWR items in there computer were tagged dicontinued or obsalete????? He was however able to locate & bring in for me (from another city ...as this music store has many locations across the country) a 2x10 400 watt Goliath Jr.
Not bad..it will actually fit the bill nicely paired up with my Headlite, Amplite & Workingpro 4x10 Cabinet.
So what going on with SWR?? I also just read on the BassTalk blog that Fender is Powering down SWR & tightening up some of their lines & they've even gone public on the stock exchange......Has anybody heard anything???

It shouldn't come as any surprise -- they did the same with SUNN.

:(

They really let Sunn slide by the wayside.

Elton John was devastated when he found out that Fender quit producing Sunn amps. His guitarist had used them for years.

It bothered him so much that he wrote a song about it..."Don't let the Sunn go down on me..."

In the words of Ceri, "I'll get my coat..."

The story behind Sunn Amps is a real from the garage, to the top of Rock history.

I forgot all about Sunn amps, I knew a guy that used to use an old Sunn stack did that thing ever roar.

Hopefully Fender doesn't shut SWR down though...

I still have my Sunn bass cabinet, I traded my SWR Workingman 2004 head for a Gallien Krueger backline 600. So cool that the bass guitarist for The Kingsman started Sunn amplifiers with his Brother in their garage. 8)

The Sundholm brothers, in Oregon. Norm Sundholm was the bass player with the Kingsmen. He was playing larger venues, and needed more power. He got with his brother, Conrad Sundholm in their Oregon house garage, and started the one of the most noted concert amps of it's time.

Have you been to the Sunn website lately? Go to the products section of the Fender website & click on "Our other products" & then click on the Sunn logo,...once there you'll see there's only a drop page & nothing else) ...it's pretty sad.......I'm fearing the same fate will bestow SWR :(
