I've tried several times in the past couple of days to access the Talk Fender website but a message keeps coming up the site doesn't exist, even when I click on their Facebook link. I was hoping that the site would survive because Brandon-the guy who started it-is only 25 and it must have taken a lot of work and preparation to get it up and running. The young fella sure had a lot of determination and and guts to take on such a large project and he deserved to have better success than he'd achieved, but I guess that as it is with a lot of things these days whatever you try ends up being a crapshoot.

Has anyone else here had the same experience that I've had ?I know that several forum members signed up to Talk Fender so I was just wondering if anyone knew the cause of the new forum's demise.

AAAAAh I see.......they have moved to a new server. Apparently it's causing mayhem but they say to bear with them.

I should have checked the site before posting.....story of my life...open my mouth and just let my belly rumble........would've saved me three posts.......

Well, apparently little Brandon built the site so he could sell it...

"I should probably explain what's happened here at TalkFender... Brandon sold the site to me last week. I'm Paul Green, I own and operate 6 other guitar forums. Most of my other forums are based on one type of guitar, i.e. Telecaster, Strat and such.

We wanted an overall Fender brand site and so when Brandon wanted to sell this worked well for us.

If you are a member of our other sites you know that we run pretty popular sites -- but our hallmark is that we moderate them fairly tightly. TalkFender will be moderated as a "G" rated site just like our others. I'm sorry if this bums you out. Our goal is not to rain on anyone's parade, but to run a site that everyone can feel safe and comfortable participating in.

In a few days, we'll add a few more forums, a couple of features and such and then promote the site to our 125,000 members on our other forums. Normally, this means that you'll see an influx of new members here over the next few weeks. That's good from a liveliness standpoint but bad for a small-town feel standpoint. Hopefully, this will work good for you."

Looks to me like a good place to no longer visit. I think they want to be the new Fender Forum.

It looks like this new guy who bought Brandon out is in it for completely mercinary reasons as he already owns several other sites-suddenly l've lost interest.

When someone opens a forum dedicated to the love and appreciation of a product such as guitars I would take part in a heartbeat but when someone does it strictly for financial gain that just takes away from it and just makes it another cold money making enterprise.

I always suspected he was looking for a payoff.

And I've already been kicked off the TDPRI forum.

I won't be going back either.

I have tried to get on the site just for curiosity's sake but I still am having no luck by going through the address that they posted-I guess that's no great loss considering they're only in it for financial gain.

But just out of curiosity... what became of the Giveaway Guitar? No mention of it that I could find on the new, improved, restricted site. And I love the welcome to the newest member - Brandon Butler...

I just asked them to delete me from their site and they said no. That idiot is there and I explained I will not be part of a site that excepts that idiot. They said we don,t delete anyone just don't visit anymore.

Within minutes of posting this here they deleted me from their site. Is their a lurker among us?

I just took a look over there and there's nothing there that really floats my boat.

Arjay, as far as you being kicked off TDPRI that's their loss in my opinion. I find it to be a rather unpleasant forum anyway.

The TDPRI is fine. It's just moderated a bit more strictly.
I see many of the same build threads here and there and many of
the same members (including FMIC staff!).
