The Boss loopers are really good for practising phrasing, soloing, riffs, whatever over your own playing, with or without drum tracks.

I have the little RC2 and it's done wonders for my playing in the past. The only downside is the price.

I agree. The Boss loopers are great. It has really helped me start learning lead. I can play rhythm all day long, mainly because I play alone most of the time and if you want to play a song.....lead alone is pretty worthless. The looper allows me to set a good rhythm so I can finally use the scales I've ben learning forever without sounding too one dimensional. Backtracks are great too. Though the loopers allow you to make up your own stuff.

I agree with others about the loop station.... get a looper...

Welcome to the Forum Mike. For me, old, yes, wise and sage-like, not so much, but, tapping my foot heel or toe always helps me stay in time. Hope that helps. 8)

It helps stay in "your" time. To stay in absolute time, you need some sort of metronome. Only then most people realize they speed up and slow down very often.

Cheers

David, generally speaking, foot tapping can help. Playing to a click while recording, or, live when using tape loops is sometimes necessary (not sure if that's the right word). Some musicians don't like playing to a click, lol :)

You're right, of course. It helps to know when to up- or downstroke 8)

Cheers
