Not being funny mate. But you'd probably be better off asking this question on a bass or drums forum.
Though there are a lot of bassists using these boards. It's predominantly guitarists here.

I know several guitarists that need go to Arizona...preferably out in the southern desert area, with no compass, map or water.

Yngwie tops that list. :P

That's pretty cruel of you, SA......

Especially to the indigenous flora and fauna of those desert areas.

I think it was a good idea to post here. However the Forums are worldwide. You might wish to narrow your scope. Some ideas to do that follow.

1. Go see other bands. Get to know their members and network. Let them know you are looking.
2. Post a flier sheet with phone number tear off strips at music shops, bulletin boards etc. Often music stores keep a list of people looking for jam mates. Check on that too.
3. Check local community trading post/swap & shop type websites and by all means check the musicians community section of the local Craigslist.org site. If you don't see anything appealing at first then make a post of your own. Beware, there are a lot of flakes on Craigslist but not all of them are going to be flakes, just about half of them.
4. Use Facebook, Twitter and other social media to let it be known you are looking to play.
5. Record some demos, post them on Soundcloud or similar audio sharing sites.
6. Never go anywhere without your guitar, or at least the case. Take it to the library, grocery store, mall, everywhere you go...so long as the neighborhood is safe. You'll be surprised how many people will ask if you play or what kind it is. It is like a billboard advertising that you are a player on the go. If you have a gig bag, stuff it with cardboard and newspaper so it isn't heavy to carry around. This is how I got into the band I've been in for 7 years now.

The above are all free ideas. The next few cost some money.

1. Buy a classified ad in the newspaper. Just a few bucks. No big deal.
2. For very advanced players that can read music and play a variety of styles, join the closest American Federation of Musicians local. This is be fastest way to get networked into the local professional circuit. There are many other benefits to AFM membership, but you should not take this step unless you are a very proficient standard notation sight reading player.

Once you get to playing out other people will see and hear you and if you really good then offers will come.

Good luck!

I'd think that they'd prefer ABBA.

We have a forum member that opened a grille in Tuscon, I think?

If he chimes in, he might know of someone.

Good luck!
