Here in the South, carbonated beverages are called a "coke" regardless of the brand,or a "soft drink/cold drink"...if anybody ask if you want a "cold drink",it's gonna be a coke.
We don't say "soda",that's a yankee word,unless you're talking about baking soda. :D
If you order tea at a place where you eat, called a "res-tur-rahnt"...you ask for sweet tea,or unsweet tea.....it's gonna have ice in it...what y'all call "iced tea"....and our sweet tea has a lot of sugar and a little bit of tea in it.

Where I come from in the UK, "soda" is called either "Ginger" or "Skoosh" depending on whether street slang is being used or not. Ginger is the generic name for any fizzy drink and Skoosh is so called coz of the noise the bottle makes as the lit is unscrewed...sssssskkksssshhhhhh :D

Aye that's the ticket! i forgot about it being described as Skoosh! Ginger or Skoosh that's what we call it. 8)

Cream Soda, Ben Sherman do it. Lots of places here stock it. It's my absolute favourite after a bag of chips.

Now here is one for the tone hounds.

COKE will taste different depending on how it's packaged. I've tried it, plastic bottle, can and glass bottle. All next to each other, all taste distinctly different.
Not really surprising when you see what it does to dirty coins.

And me, I have a glass of pop. Though lately it's been Black Cherry or Acai juice. Getting on a bit these days.

In most of Texas if you say you want a Coke they'll ask you what kind. I have gotten to where I ask for the soda by name just to make my order more clear. Usually either Mountain Dew, Dr. Pepper, or Mr. Pibb.

Come June, I'll be going back to Italy (Yaaaay). Over there you get a dollop of ice cream on top of the drink.
The absolute best place to enjoy cream soda.

:? :? :?

For the convenience of our Patrons, I have attempted to translate this missive. I cannot guarantee it to be entirely accurate, as parts of the source reference are of course entirely incomprehensible:

"Ah yes, Mister 'Papawookie'.. one cannot work and talk on the internet even for a limited period of time.. A Gentleman from Glasgow, by the name of 'Celtic Cyclonus', and myself, used to have conversations in the other lounge. There weren't many other persons who could entirely comprehend the content of our conversation, which caused us to grin extravagantly despite feeling billious.. 'Alana', (who we may assume to be the subject's daughter) has suggested that you make contact with her, if, as my friend, you wish to be indelibly stamped.."

At this point my translation matrix suffered a terminal breakdown. So if anyone else can further refine this, then please do so..
