I have wanted a 5 string bass guitar for a while and got this last week:Image the Dave Ellefson model however not his signature custom as that is quite a bit costlier than this:Image it has EMG active pickups:Image Image
I thought that I should have an amp-head with an active input so I got this: Image Image

This is my first NGD or NAD post, the photos are awful and really don't do the gear justice. The bass guitar is what I had been looking for and Jackson is a Fender family member now, the amp is great sounding and has a volume knob on the direct out so going into my GK head boosts my output to a better level.

Ellefson always had the best sound of the big four. I'll even go on record and say better than Cliff Burton.

Congrats mate. Hope you love it.

+1

I love "shark's teeth"!

Was it your birthday or what? I have to perform some major "sucking up" to the wife to rate a new guitar AND a new amp on the same day.

Rawk on!

+1 But I gotta ask Arjay...how many pair of shoes do you have to buy the 1st Sgt to rate a NAD/NGD?

SBLS...congrats on the pair! You are one lucky guy!

Well I've never had a simultaneous NAD/NGD.

But for a guitar OR a combo amp, three pair.

For a large piggy-back, five.

So if I am correct in my public math...the answer is 8? Glad you know the going rate!

Sorry for the hijack...my apologies SBLS!

Thanks Bros. This was really brought on by the "is a paint over possible" thread. Your encouragement on that thread helped bring out gear options I hadn't thought of before. 8)

I've become a fan of Acoustic amps, too - both the acoustic type and the bass type. In fact, I own that same bass head, which I usually run through a Peavey 1820 cabinet - 18" BW subwoofer and two 10" speakers above. I like my bass to sound like BASS!
