I keep trying to find the G string and can't find it anywhere, is it under the plate on the back?

Seriously how many of us knew much about our guitars before we bought one?

I'm with Martian. I've always done my research before I buy any guitar - new or used.

What color sounds the best? What color has the best action? Will my squire sound like John Mayer?

Ok, I guess I should have said how many of us knew about guitars before starting to play? Honestly I was 13 when I started, I knew guitars had a body and neck. Also the town I grew up in had no musical shops unless you were into band or orchestra.

I knew damn all about guitars when I bought my first electric. I bought a cheap Strat copy rather than a cheap Les Paul copy because... it was even cheaper.

I started the journey of learning about guitars when I needed to find out how to make that guitar play a little less horribly, and was too cheap to keep paying guitar shop techs to do it for me.

Guess I'm just cheap through-and-through! :D

Cheers - C

Just got my Strat delivered today.
They didn't even bother to take the tags and decals off!
What kind of lousy quality control is THAT, Mr Fender !

Also, it was out of tune!
What a piece !

Yeah !
So do I direct my hasty, unwarranted, and over-blown anger and quest for blood-vengeance against Fender, the dealer, or the shipper.

I always like to think I do, but I'm just glad to be able to peek, troll, and otherwise lurk around in here and pick up a few informational nuggets every day.
Thanks y'all.

"I don't know why all of you are insulting the recording I posted. I know my guitar was out of tune, the timing and phrasing were off, I played the wrong chords, I turned on six effects pedals at the same time (four of them distortion), I played the wrong chords, didn't even vaguely nail the opening riff right, and the recording itself was bad--but it hurts my feelings that you don't like it..."

aw wow, love it !

We here are immersed in guilt for being so insulting.
You cannot imagine our remorse.
It is we, not you, who need to seek professional help.

Just for you, we have started a new "Shameless Self-Promotion, Validation, and
Celebration-of-Your-Enviable-Talent Parade Board" on this forum.
