disagree with you there but if there is one colour i can't take it's vintage white... i mean, why should a white guitar even turn yelow with such a colour? and 3 colour sunburst is a colour you will NEVER see me play on a strat, tele, jaguar, jazzmaster, mustang, marauder or whatever electric guitar i'lll ever have... (though it looks sexy on acoustics )

Some may call it blasphemy but I have a massive dislike for sunbursts, along with black guitars, so boring.

If they made some day-glo colours I would buy them all.

nah I agree with you, sunburst is horrible. I've a anniversary deluxe that stays in the case because I don't find anything attractive about the way the guitar plays, sounds or looks.
It's just bland, start to finish.

My pick for black was not based on my taste, just simple observance. More black guitars have been sold since 1956 than any other colour.

Leo painted sunburst on ash because it looked like cherrywood which was very popular as furniture in the '50s. When he found he could get the same visual result on alder he switched to alder. It being cheaper.

Saying that I will make an exception for one type of sunburst and thats Sienna Sunburst, beautiful.

But I'm more of a Surf Green, Sonic Blue, Shell Pink or Candy Apple Red kinda guy.

I don't understand how you resist sunburst love. It's timeless classy. I guess I could see wanting to be different, everyone famous plays one more than other colors it seems. To me sunbursts and naturals are very peaceful and interesting at the same time. Although I do love the other colors too, with the exception of pink or neon. Now time for the real question, maple or rosewood? For me it's whatever I don't have at the time. I am playing three guitars (one at a time) now and they are all rosewood, oddly enough I find my self wanting to play a maple now. The grass is always greener

I just find the classic sunbursts to be so dull, nothing about them makes me wanna pick the guitar up and play.

Also don't get me started on clear coats like some of the 70's style strats, they look so cheap

i liked the satin teflon type finish they did for a year on MIM standard strats. they did red, blue, and a greeny colour like mine. the red and blue sort of change shade when your viewing angle changes, and and they feel great to touch.



as for sunburst and fretboards, ive got a '62 custom tele in sunburst with RW board. i would never, ever buy a guitar with this combo. not a huge fan of sunburst, especially the 2 colour/tobacco, not a fan of RW either. but i couldnt turn this guitar down, and the binding makes all the difference. i love bound telecasters.
