What Rob, they woke you up with a new amp. You then proceeded to wake the street up with the new amp?

wuh huh? FedEx sent two employees in the employees car to my home with the amp and a throne I ordered! I guess they got a new policy: When a package arrives and the truck can't make it to the customer, whoever's at FedEx and going home and is closet to the delivery gets to take the package to the customer! Nice! Wayyyyy nice! Instead of waiting all day for nothing, they got here around 9:30 PM instead keeping the package till tomorrow!

It's really well built, heavy duty, killer appearance, has *all* of the features I need. Hopefully, it didn't get banged too hard during shipping, the shipping box looks good...it was shipped in it's box, not in a box, which, well...I wouldn't have shipped it that way. However, the box it was packed in is heavy duty like the amp -- Blackstar smart! I'll give it a whirl tomorrow!

Yo, jeebus, what-up wit the amp?

...utterly amazing head. Plugged everything in, turned it on, put it on standby, cued up Ableton and holy efin' mother of tubes...clean texture with extraordinary sustain and clarity that reacts really fast with the wood of the guitar. ...I switched on the gain channel...turned things up a bit and it was simply...ungodly. It blew away the V head out of the box for clean to metal, just blew it away -- no effects necessary!

...thank you jeebus! 8)

Update: It takes the Zoom G9.2tt via the guitar input like a champ -- full on chorus, reverb, and delay! And, the headphone output is powerful! Wow!

...thank you jeebus! 8)

...Dear jeebus,

I sat down with the HT5R head, and hands' down, it is the best recording and playback head I've ever touched!

Using nothing but GLynch cables, I have the guitar patch chord going into a Electro Harminox Hum Debugger pedal, a Zoom G9.2tt guitar input, a mono out from the Zoom into the front guitar input on the HT5 head (not the effects loop). From the HT5 head, I'm using the speaker emulator out set to 4 x 12 with a 1/4" cable to a Behringer Ultra Di Box that converts 1/4" to XLR out, the Monster Gold XLR out into a TASCAM USB into A PC w/ Sony Head Phones and Alesis USB speakers attacked to the TASCAM outputs with Hosa cables, the sound is crystal clean and I can get any clean to any metal, any clean to any metal, I repeat...any clean to any metal...the amp sims on the Zoom are amazing and the HT5 translates them beautifully and adds to what's lacking in the zoom where applicable (mostly in the high gain sections). I start with a clean setting on both of the HT 5 channels and that's it, the Zoom does the rest. I got a loud ultra clear tone with tons of glass and wood and texture, then loud with touch sensitivity that goes into breakup right where I like it, then...over-drive, then...distortion...then I kick in the HT5 Gain channel and it's...metal Heaven! When I want to fiddle with the HT5, I bypass the zoom and can get tons of tones with the ISF knob, the 3 band EQ is amazing, it dials in nothing but good tones!

...thank you jeebus! 8)

No, seriously. I wouldn't have gotten this amp had I not read your post!

...get this head, you'll be shocked! I'm getting rid of the Mustang V head, done.

And, this is not to say that the V head is bad, it's pretty good, but not as good as a whatever Blackstar did insofar as a clean/metal amp. Yeah, the V's got the DSP, but...I like the Zoom DSP better, and it sounds better with the Blackstar. However, when I need full-blown 50 and 100 watt tube heads...I'll be trying Blackstar first! If this is wut they do with a static, 2-channel 5 watt head...wut in God's name have they done with their programmable heads?

I am happy for you, Jeebus! I have read many positive reviews on Blackstar amps. A shame that you found a dud, but I am sure your patience has been well rewarded. Enjoy!

you know, i worked my butt off to buy that amp. i did my research and finally found one without a special order. to get it home and hear fizzle, pop and silence..........that broke my heart.
everything is working perfectly and the store kept aplogizing for something that was not thier fault. hell, i got a great deal on a MIM tele, gig bag and a 25 ft cord. they thanked me for not throwing a fit. (i did that at home and on the forum).

being an a-hole does nothing for customer service.
