I was browsing through the free copy of Guitar Afficianado on the iPad when I came, across this.

Slightly misleading advert, particularly as 5 of them aren't known at all for playing 335's.

Okay, I'm being very picky, and the play either 345's, 355's or other 335-based semis, but hey.

As a sidenote, I would so love if Gibson made the block inlays standard again. Only 335 I ever had was a rather ancient example with the blocks, I can't stand the dot markers - they just look so wrong for that guitar in my opinion.

It would be cool to see a similar layout with a Strat and/or Tele and notable players of those particular axes...Photoshop Phiends, do you hear me?

This ad caught my eye because it's so tastefully done, less is more. I'd love to see some with Fenders or even some Rickys.

Too late I realise this can only be an exercise in offending all the people who's names I haven't put on there. Hey, that's most of us, including me, folks!

...Huh. I'll get my coat. :(

Cheers - C

That's awesome...and the first time I've been classified as noteworthy...usually I'm more in the "notorious" category!
I really don't have the skill to be counted in that esteemed group, but there better not be anybody try to take me off off of it!

What's funny is that they're actually proud of the fact Noel Gallagher is associated with one of their instruments.

Ok Ceri...I am offended... you left Nevin off the list! He is a Legend! Just kidding, you may not be a PS fiend, but that was a classy thing to do, nice job!

Yeah, I know...

The minute I posted it I thought; "Uh-oh, what have I done?" The way to look at it is this:

There are few more notable players of the Gibson ES-335 than Eric Clapton, from the Cream era to now. I saw him on TV playing a 335 just recently, and Gibson have built him custom models for his Cream reunion shows and I think done sig issues too. So when Eric looks at that ad and doesn't find his name on it he might be forgiven for saying; "Sheesh - what's a guy have to do...?"

Cheers - C
