John Mayer. I think he might start getting his name out there soon.
I think he's already pretty big... I mean, platinum selling albums and grammys usually note stardom.

One of my favorite bands is The Handsome Family. Husband and wife duo that play incredibly dark country. In their live performances The Handsome Family are sometimes up to a six-piece band and sometimes just Brett and Rennie with (or without) a laptop computer. Check 'em out ...

There is a band precursor to Led Zeppelin - started in Brooklyn in 1968. Sir Lord Baltimore (SLR). "A 1971 review of their debut record, Kingdom Come, (1970) contained the first documented use of the term "heavy metal" to refer to a style of music." (From wikipedia) This is probably one of the more obscure bands I know of :)

Storyville. Killer tunes and great guitarsounds. Don't think they're together anymore though.

Storyville was Tommy Shannon and Chris Layton from Double Trouble, SRV's band, along with David Grissom, Malford Milligan, and David Holt. They were together for a short time.

Another Band That Tommy and Chris were in was called ARC Angels with DoyleBramhall II and Charlie Sexton. The Arc Angels still get together and play.
