Yesterday I was randomly watching videos on youtube and I ran across Louis Prima and his band.

It was a complete surprize to me when I realized that he was the inspiration for the King Louie character in the Disney’s Jungle Book movie.

The Jungle Book was made in 1967, but watch this rendition of Just a giggolo from the 50’s by Louis Prima and you can tell it must have been amazing to see him live.

Here’s another version, this time by David Lee Roth. I imagine that it is not a big surprize that we can see King Louie (as a table lamp) on Roth’s right side, on his desk at the beginning and at the end of the video.

Anyways, as I said, I was watching videos and listening to music and I discovered a connection between a Marion Harris recording from 1916 of a song called ‘’I ain’t got nobody’’ and the ‘‘Just a giggolo’’, here’s Marion Harris.

It starts at 0m47s. The recent versions took the chorus of Harris and made the second part of the giggolo with it. Note that this is not a whitch hunt, the recent ‘’Just a giggolo’’ versions mention the ‘’I ain’t got nobody’’ part. It was just a few hours of google fun and I wanted to share it.
Claude.

Claude, thank you. Louis Prima is an Idol, Keeley Smith was my heart-throb, Louis style of music was all rock and roll. Born on December 7, 1910, Louis probably heard the last recording that you posted Claude.

Now thats a show, I'd have loved to have seen. Forget attitude and glaring at the audience, lets have some fun.
